New to this forum...have a question already

I usually post on LS1, LS1tech and a few stang sites.....but so far this forum seems really cool. Anyway, my g/f bought a 04 Corolla S 5-speed and it's getting pretty crappy gas mileage compared to what it's supposed to get. It does have aftermarket 18in rims...but other than that it's completely stock.

What mileage are you guys getting with aftermarket wheels? It only has 15,000 on the clock but i was thinking about forcing a re-learn on the fuel trims....think that would help?

well, dunno what kinda horse/torque ya get in the states but i would think 18 in rims would help in raping your gas tank gas

My MPG went down with 17" and went back up when I put lighter 16" TRD rims on.

18 inchers are ridiculously large on a corolla. wheel weight and tire size will play a significant part in it as well. easiest troubleshooting at this point = swap out the wheels with the stockers and see if the MPG goes back up.

18's really are not all that crazy on that year of corolla, but i think checking tire pressure is more important, and double check alignment and the air filter.. a little high on the air pressure shouldhelp with your mileage.

    I'm pretty sure it's the 18".
Change it back to stock and see if the mileage go back to normal.

^^^ i agree best way is to change back to stock rims... u don't need to spend money and u can do it yourself... and if the result is good then its ur 18"rims...
