    Spring Choices

I've been looking around for performance springs for my car for a while now, and I had kind of settled on Teins because they were inexpensive and known to be good, but I was curious what peoples experiences have been with other brands of springs. Off the top of my head, I know that Arospeed, Sprint, and H&R all make springs for our cars, at least the 98-02s, in addition to Eibach and Tein, which I know plenty about already.

A nice "mild" drop is exactly what I'm looking for. Handling actually gets worse afer a certain point in the lowering process. the goal in lowering the car is to lower the CoG and therefore reduce the roll-couple of the car, but once you pass the geometric center of the suspension, handle well degrade immensly unless you have the proper suspension, ie. coilovers. my thought is that a drop of 1-1.5'' is ideal for handling on the 8th-gens, given the minimal drop that our cars can accept on stock shocks.

*wanders off to look into Suspension Techniques*

What about Suspension Techniques? I know their springs and sway bars are highly regarded in the classic BMW community. Anyone use 'em on a 7th- or 8th-gen Corolla? Their 7th-gen springs seem to have a nice mild drop of about 1.3"--I'm not into the extreme lowered look.

I have suspension techniques springs on and they are stiffer than Eibachs. They have a really nice drop 1.5" front 1.4" rear. None too aggressive, yet still improves handling tremendously, if you don't mind a slightly rougher ride its perfect. Mm.. well let me put it this way its more comfy than stock springs and Koni's, yet stiffer than Kyb's and Eibachs - a 25% increase in stiffness over stock. Hope this helps rather than add to your confusion.

I have 27,000 miles on my stock struts/springs. i'm about to order tein s-techs for my corolla 98-02 (02 model). Will the Tein s-techs put heavy wear on the stock struts? I have a tech friend who knows enough to install springs for me but may not be experienced enough to work on struts (he's taking auto school). Any experiences or recommendations? (I can install struts later if I can hold off on them). thanks.
