    Where for amp install kit?

I've been trying to find the best way to get an amp kit, and this is what I've come up with.
At the local audio places here, they want $150 for a kit (4ga with fuse etc/etc) without the RCA's.
ebay has some cheap ones, but probably crap rca/fuse.
I can pick up 4GA wire for about $1/ft (its welding cable, so its not 100% O2 free, but not big deal), and pick up the rest of the parts locally (fuse, speaker wire, remote wire, fuse holder, terminals), but that still is going to be up to about $90.

Anyone know where I can get an install kit (with everything) for cheap? Or everything except power/ground wire, which I can get cheap here?

Darvex looks pretty good. I can get a kit for $25 that includes everything (fuse, holder, 4ga power, ground, interconnects, speaker wire, remote etc/etc)
And shipping is pretty cheap as well (12.20 to canada)

Yeah Darvex is top notch. I have no complains from them, and their products are pretty good! I have bought many things from them, as well as other people that I know.

wal mart baby.. if you're not going SQ competitions or any bs like that, it'll be fine..

make SURE and don't run your remote wire with your RCA cable tho.. and run a ground between amp and deck while you're at it.. cheap insurance.

I can see not running the RCA/remote near power, that'll give you a load of engine noise if you dont have good shielded RCA, but not running remote new RCA? (the voltage and current is SOOO low on the remote line, and with shielded RCA's it wont be a problem).
As for the ground, I dont agree with you there either. Grounding this amp to the frame with 4GA wire only 6" away, and a well grounded stereo only supplying the signal for the subs. Why would you want to run at 10ft+ ground between the two?

I've run my remote with the RCA's without problems. I have also used a short 4Gauge wire for the ground, and used a distribution block going into 8 Gauge. No problems there either.

if you buy cheap RCA cables, dont run the power wire with the amp.

if you run cheap rca cables, ground the amp to the deck.. is it THAT hard?

Now that just didnt make any sense, but I know what you are trying to say.
Obviously you would never run the RCA near the power wire, but grounding the amp to the deck does not make sense. It accomplishes the same thing having a 4GA ground from the amp, and the extra ground that I have on the deck. Having a ground that long between the two does not accomplishing anything, and a ground that long just doesnt sound right.

you're supplying a dedicated ground connection between the deck and the amp, rather than relying on only the RCA cable. stronger/cleaner signal..

don't believe me? look it up! if you buy high-end RCA's you'll see that they all come with a small third wire molded into the RCA. that's to be used as a ground between the two components.

Well that makes a little sense, again, if you are planning on using cheap ass interconnect. However, that is not the reason that you made it sound like for grounding.

Made it sound like it was "cheap insurance" for any electrical problem

I found a kit at walmart (well since I avoid walmart like the plague, I heard about it from someone).
Its only an 8GA kit though ($30).
Might be alright, considering that my amp is only going ot run 280watts, except the cable run in fairly long.
Anyone think 8ga would be ok? (i know it goes agains the12volt's guide)

Ok screw the walmart one, it was total crap.
Picked one up from princess auto. was somethinglike $35+tx, with interconnects, 20ft 4ga, agu fuse/holer etc/etc.
Just adding that for anyone in Canada that has a princess auto around, apparently they carry them most of the time.
