    Question on rubbing

Basically I am rubbing on only one of my wheel wells.

I drive a 2003 corolla with TEIN springs so it's about a 2" drop. Also I have 17" rims on the car, the weird thing is it's only the driver's side front wheel that rubs.

Even when I have a full car, only that side rubs, and it is really annoying. Going at fast speeds on the highway say around 70 I hit a bump or a dip and I can feel the car bounce up and down and hit the wheel well.

Now I have looked and part of the wheel well has been torn to shreds which isn't a good thing.

I have had the springs for a long time, probably close to 2 years. I am wondering if replacing the struts would fix this problem and bring it back to how it was originally or if I am just out of my mind.

If anyone has some ideas on what the problem is I'd love to hear them :)

ha-ha. me too. Only the front drivers side rubs when I hit dips and bumps in the road. I had contributed the problem to the wrong wheel offset. when I had the stock 17" matrix xrs rims on I would rub all the time then later I had changed to 18x8's with a +35 offset and everything worked out fine.

The offset of the wheel determines how much the wheel will sit inwards or outwards. If your offset is too much of a negative offset then your wheel will stick outwards too much and rub your fenders, there is nothing you can do for that. On the other hand if your has too much of a positive offset you may encounter your wheels touching your brake calipers; which could be remedied it by putting a wheel spacer which push your wheels outward.

    Maybe you're just too fat? j/k :D
Check the struts, maybe they've gone bad.

Can you explain to me why you think it's the offset? I am not quite sure what you mean :) So if you could explain in detail I would be very very appreaciative.

Is there any easy way for testing the struts?
