Toyota OEM brake pad for 01 corolla

Just wondering, are the original toyota brake pads ceramic?

Brembo rotors + OEM brake pads (Less or no squeeking sound when applying padel)

    Is this a good combination?

I dunno if the oem pads are ceramic? but I do know this,
they lick balls compared to hawk semi-metallic pads!
I'm serious, I dunno why I went back with the oem pads.

I probably got some defective oem pads (?).

They have a mind of their own though. They make noise when I brake hard and sometimes when I brake lightly. Its really anoying.

it went the other way for me - my hawk HPS were nooiiisssyyyy!
I switched back to OEM's and they're nice and quiet again. Albeit, braking doesn't seem like it feels quite the same...

ditto...I even went as far as replacing the rotors for good measure and the stinkers still squeals like a pig.
I so miss my hawk hp pads.

I second that opinion. Not only that but the HPS make waaayyyy too much brake dust. I wash my car every week and my wheels don't stay clean for long. Also, the HPS have less bite than OEM. This will be my first and last set.

Oh so you guys recommend OEM brake pads?
caz I just called Toyota today, and they told me that those pads aren't ceramic pads... so will these pad shorten the life of my Brembo drilled/slotted rotors really quick?

I think I heard someone said on this board said semi-metallic pads aren't good for Brembo drilled/slotted rotors...

So in that case...Any recommendations on ceramic pads? or should I just stick with the OEMs..

Sorry to ask soo much, this is my first time to change rotor brake pads, and I want to do it right.

    Thanks guys

Go to Pep-Boys and buy the Pro-Stop Quiet Stop Ceramic Pads, they are great for Brembo Cross-Drilled Rotors, thats they same setup I have and I love it, I dont have a prob with brake dust and even with hard breaking the pads lasted a good 2 yrs.

    Hope this help.

The last pads I used were semi-metalic on my Brembro cross-drilled/slotted rotors and they worked fine with no damage to rotors. The brake dust was minimal also.

I would go with OEM or good ceramics.

do not get any drilled slotted rotors. you may not have heard but they're not effective at all anymore. because the rotors are originally made through casting process, any holes or slits cut into the rotor will make it vulnerable to cracking. the last thing you want is for your braking system to fail on you. Also, the slots are supposedly there to help you shave off any kind of glazing that might happen during hard braking. Newer pads don't glaze because of the lack of asbestos or something else maybe. the slots also make your pedal feel raddly.

if you have 30 minutes, please watch these videos. you'll learn a bit about brakes http://videos.hspn.com/?videoid=12

My car is 4 yrs old and in the first yr., I went throu 3 rotors and I dunno how many pads.
I warped the rotors and burned out the pads. I went with the Brembo cross-drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads and I have had this set up for 3 yrs. and have had only gone throu one set of pads and the rotors are fine.

I live in a Northern Climate and the winter has not even hurt them.

As for the pedal feeling funny, I have never had that problem and my braking is always strong and predictable.
