    help with tranny

    my 02 prizm is not going into gear and I tried draining the tranny fluid and putting some new tranny fluid back in. what should I do? do I need a new tranny?

    is it true that if you add to much tranny fluids your auto tranny goes bad ?

    How does it "not going into gear"?
    Do you feel like you're in "N" or what?

    What to do

    does anyone know what I should do with the auot tranny? how can I fix this problem and get my prizm running? should I just replace the tranny and buy a new one?

    check it first....better to have it checked before changing the whole tranny

    yeah it feels like it's in "N." how do you check the torque converter if it's bad or not ?

    I don't think it's the torque converter if you feel like it's in N. If the tq converter dead, the tranny can still change gear but just no power transfer to the wheel.
    Do you have tach on your car? Keep your eyes on it. If the tranny didn't change gear at all, you will see the needle go all the way to the redline. If it does change gear, you will see the needle go back a little, then go up again, then go back a little, then go up again.

    oops, I meant "tach" not "tech" :p
    I guess you have a bad tranny. The shop will charge you around 8hrs to do the tranny swap I think.

    well I don't have a "tech" in my car, so i can't do what you said. but what if it redline, what does that mean? what wrong? what do I have to replace?

    ^yea, maybe with 2-3 ppl working at the same time.
    In order to take the tranny out of the 1zz rolla/celica, you have to take out almost everything (except the radiator and other small things).
