    rattle in '01 1zzfe

I just started having a weird problem. My engine rattles at the top of each gear just before shifting. It's a 2001 Toyota Corolla LE AT. It will rattle regardless if I am giving it a lot or a little gas. Also, downshifting for speed reduction also invokes the rattle. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Matthew

not a tranny mount... it's a pretty loud, consistant rattle right between gear changes. Suggestions?

    UPDATE:
Well, per the dealer, it's just the tensioner on the timing chain.. $110 to replace woot! also time for my 60k service anyway. I will never go to a Firestone again. The 'service manager' argued with me for about 30 minutes, insisting that Toyota techs don't know anything about toyotas. I told him per toyota the chain should last the lifetime of the car, WITH routine inspections. he claimed they needed to be replaced every 60k miles!!! i was like wtf?? what a quack... anyway, the dealer is actually cheaper than firestone for everything, oil changes, 60k service, etc. so off to the dealer with me :)

    anyway,

    thanks for the help guys
