on the street illegal...private property legal

Just make sure you turn 'em off when the cops roll up and tell you to leave the taco bell parking lot...or they'll bust you RIGHT when your tires hit the road...trust me...they will ;)

I will withold my opinion of your choice of quote unquote "mods"

as far as i know - those are only for emergency vehicles and illegal for private vehicles. you can get so busted if a cop sees u with those.

if you really want them, u can check Code 3 on the internet. they have that stuff.

I worked for a company called MHQ in CT and we installed the cop lights on cars. all of the lights came from whalen in CT. and they are not illegal to use on private property but if you get caught using them on the road or acting like a cop they are illegal.

....car lots are private property...check your local laws because they could have a law against that stuff even on private property...impersonation and what not...so you'll really need to check with your local law enforcement agency

yes you can get them at any auto parts store , in the ricer section (APC) . they are illegal to run while your vehicle is in motion , private or public property , absolutely illegal on the roads . legal in parking lots if your standing still . wig wags are completely illegal , these are the ones cop use .(wig-wag , meaning they jump back and forth sequentially between the two headlights etc.) the ones sold at the parts store flash at the same time , not individually. these are the ones that are legal . also , if you have exterior strobes , red or blue lights , it is illegal to be able to see the light source (bulb or element). there is no color law on strobes , just sequences and brightness. there is laws on certain color underbody lights , cornermarkers , and HL's.

about the cop lights, how easy is it to make a traffic-light changer like the emergency vehicles have?

actually today , its a remote sensor . and also most lights today , run on timers or magnetic strip sensors . this is why the pavement is cut at the whiteline at the redlight

drive thru's and red lights use the same sensors. haha

...they don't...they can go through a red light if their lights are on and horns are a blaring, actually if an emergancy vehicle is approaching a red light they sound their horn not to say MOVE but to ask permission...somehting like that...I think..any way you have to give them the right of way no matter. I've heard of this rumour before...but never seen any proof of such a device...and there isn't a need for it really.

didn't mythbusters to something on the flashing high beams to change a red light thingy?

yep , the high beams dont work . however if it has a ground sensor , wait 3 seconds after the last car goes thru the intersection and nudge on the sensor , wahlah youll see the other signal go orange . a little something i learned from a friend of mine that worked at u-tec (an intersection and traffic controls specialist company) htis only works if its asensored light and its been through its timer . on average the timers are set from 20-30 seconds , exept high traffic intersections.

not true. all parking lots of supermarkets , retail stores etc. are private property of the store , as long as your vehicle is not in motion , and you cannot see the light sorce (actual strobe filiment) your legal , i know this subject , i used to be in the mini truck seen , and half the members in our club were local GSP's (georgia state patrol) and city cops , we had about 50 members though and most of us had strobes either in the interior or exterior in our HL's or reverse lights , to draw attention at local car shows and meets. some of the officers had wig-wags in their headlights and reverse lights , but they also had the state approval sticker thats only supposed to be on volunteer civil type of civilian vehicles (loike volunteer firemen) as long as the owner or particular manager of the property doesnt rezent you from being on the property , your fine . if he does rezent , then it becomes tresspassing.

hold on, i've seen lights turn green for cops. they have MIRT's installed dont they? thats what i was referring to

    http://www.themirt.com/

and yes, i know theyre illegal - tampering with traffic control device. but i think in my state they cant stop you on suspicion of tampering. traffic cameras might be a different deal

Like I said...I've heard the rumour but never actually seen facts backing it up...so I was asking for that ;)

Dude...cops...in reality, can do whatever the hell they want and there is little you can do about it...who's the judge gonna believe? Whos the D.A. gonna believe? Gotta think realistically.

And yes...they would be able to stop you on suspicion...just like if you're driving and you go a little side to side in your lane...even if you don't cross the white line...even if you only do it once...they can quit legally pull you over, cuff you, search your car without asking, all because of suspicion of alcohol.

"single traffic signal within the territorial boundary of the equipped emergency vehicle must be similarly equipped"

traffic light has to be equipped first to recieve signal...

to answer your question...it appears a 10-14 htz strobe will do it...read the faq

Why do you want to give cops a reason to f with you, this...the strobe lights...you seem to want police attention...
