but you see, he's not trying to impress anyone but himself. he's an eccentric tech support phone jockey who plays around with a welding torch when he gets bored. it's his version of art. not everyone in the world's going to like it...and he realizes that. good for you for the scathing commentary, though...i'm sure he'll like it :)

Greetings, I actually found this thread through a random Google search, I am the person who made Funker-Hearse/Alexi, a couple of things I figured I would address...

On getting the car to pass inspections here...we are fortunate in Colorado that aside from emissions testing there is no formal inspection to guarantee that the car is roadworthy in any way. They kind of figure that if your car is a piece of crap that is falling apart that's your problem! The law states that anything attached to the side fo the car can extend no farther than 9 inches, so I have kept to that. The wings basically qualify as a semi permanent roof rack.

The flamethrower isn't permanently attached just for the fact that I don't like the idea of driving around with charged propane cannisters 24/7. I bring the flamethrower out for parades, special occasions, or any time I know a lot of hot goth chicks are going to be around.

As for failed attempts and non-conformity as one person put it...

Non-comformity is such a trite and over played subject that arguing it's merits is somewhat sophomoric. Doing any single thing in life just to be non-conforming is pointless. I do these things because I want to. Too few people do what they want, most are governed by what their friends, family, work, whatever, will think. Doing things for your own pleasure is far superior to any misguided attempt at non-conformity.

As for the questionable composition of the car, Alexi 1 was a really decaying car. She had many body problems and ran like crap. I started work on Alexi 2 a while back which is being built on a far superior vehicle and I am taking more time to put together in a more solid fashion.

HAHAHA Oh Nathan ... I have to admit and slightly agree ... it is quite ugly. However ... it's kinda neat. I mean if that's what is going to make you happy, then by all means ... go for it.

One of our friends traded his 51 Ford Coupe for a bagged 71 Caddy Hearse. It's still got the curtains hanging in the windows and looks completely stock...aside from when it's parked at one of his wife's roller derby bouts and it's layed completely out. I'd kill for one(pun intended).
