    Need Advice

I am new to mods but not cars. Need to know where the best part of my Corolla is to start modifying.

that depends entirely on what you want to do with it.

figure out what you want to do, and go from there...formulate a plan first, so you don't just buy parts willy-nilly for it and end up with a badly modified car.

That's good advice falnfenix, but there are some mods that can be done that are universal and have no effect on what path you choose to follow(red-light drag, autocross, etc.)

If you own a manual transmission car, a good first mod is a short/quick shifter. It's not really a performance mod per say, but you will enjoy driving your car just a bit more with it. Just go with a quality shifter and you'll be happy. Anyone else think of something?

that was meant in regards to performance vs show. it's a LOT easier to focus on one or the other rather than simply jumping headfirst into anything you can. formulating a game plan also saves money in the long run. ;)

    BROAD question...

    Props on the replies.

Just let us know what you have in mind and we'll give you some names to look for, places to go...and places to avoid.

    so;
Are you wanting a little more power from the engine?
Are you wanting the car to handle better?
Do you want a smoother ride for passangers (not many people mod for pure comfort as much as we do performance...well I guess in a way that's what a show car is)

OR are you just wanting to in general enhance the cars performance from tires to interior?

If yes to those than are you wanting to build for going around corners and taking streets or for drag racing or for ralley racing?

Just throwing a bunch of general stuff at you so don't really use that as a list, just trying to help you get an idea of what's all out there.

Give it a think...stay away from modding magazines unless you have 60k to blow on just interior...otherwise just get in your car and think of things you'd like to have different/better.

heh...well, considering just how many show-specific people we have around here, i recommend you broaden your horizons slightly, eh? ;)

Oh, right, performance vs show. I was thinking more along the performance lines of things, never even thought about show :p

Really regarding the entire topic, I'd just do whatever you feel you can afford to be doing...

agreed, assuming he sticks to wheels UNDER 17" if the car is from 2002 or older...if it's 03+, then 17" is the max i would go.

and so long as they are same weight to lighter than stock + wider + correct offset to not ruin bearings...otherwise not much of a gain ;)

Always gotta be careful...and do it right

Bruce are you there? Give some your ideas if you want those places/brands...otherwise bro...you're gonna get some uneeded info...

I don't think he has given any input on what his interest is, ie either show or go.

The most important mod, in my opinion, is that which is the sole connection between your car and the road: TIRES.
