    Whats crap?

    Plextor cdrom drives. NEVER BUY THE POS's. TEH SUXORZ. I buy a dvd burner it can't read dvd's 2 months later........................................................

    the same thing happened to my friends scsi cd-rw. 4 months later his died... CRAP CRAP CRAP

    Wow that's strange, Plextor is usually the industry standard for great optical drives.

    Might be an issue with the controller on the motherboard. SATA connected optical drives are new and not all board support them - kind of hit or miss. Plextor may work well on one board and crap out on another. I'll check and see if there is a firmware upgrade to the burner to help with compatibility.

    I've used Plextor for years with no issues. The two drives in my current PC are Plextor.

    I think this is the first time I've ever heard anything bad about Plextor..from what I understood, the only downside was the price.

    Since I'm cheap, I prefer Lite-On. :p

    Yeah, Plextor is usually very good... I've always had either plextor or lite-on in my PCs

    plextor is amazing, i've owned nothing but plextors for all of my burning needs.
