diff btwn DVD player and CD player?

    hi, all

    quick Q about car decks!!

reading a music CD w/ a DVD player (to be precise, Alpine DVA-9860) and read the same disc w/ a CD player (CDA-9855), is there gonna be a sound quality difference?

the sales told me the sound coming out from DVD deck will be better than the CD deck...and I have doubt in my mind!

the main advantage of having a DVD deck is just the ability to play DVD disc....which really just the capacity of storing more songs/MP3 onto the DVD disc...that's it, isn't it?

thx for helping out.....I am still a newb on car audio!!

Nope there shouldn't be a sound quality difference between different Alpine decks, unless it's some sort of extra DSP feature he's talking about. The main benefit of the DVD deck is watching movies, but also DVD-MP3 discs.

Unless you're planning on adding screens sometime in the future, I'd say you don't really need the DVD functionality.

yeah, that's what I thought, too!!

now, a different question.....how would u compare Kenwood KDC-MP928 and Alpine CDA-9855?

would u say sound qulity-wise go for alpine...and Kenwood is more of a mixture of fine graphic and sound?

thanks for the input though!!

I tend to biased as far as brands. I have Alpine amps and my HU is by them too. I dunno about specifics, but I checked out the Kenwood and it looks like a nice deck.

i have a dvd player, does the same crap a cd player does, sounds about the same...rather than two different models of the same make, you should compare two different makes...such as alpine vs. kenwood or something, because when u go to different manufacturers, they have different processing of sounds, so the quality will differ...but the laser inside dvd/cd players reads at the same level...just it goes through different circuits and is produced differently depending on the quality of the stereo.
