Any kind of thoughts on a FM modulated cd changer?

Anyone here have a cd changer with a fm modulator? If so does it sound descent. I have subs and non-amped speakers. I really want a HU, but with my luck, itd be stolen or broken into with or without the face on. I want to play mp3 and ive been looking at the JVC CH-X1500RF and was wondering if anyone here can tell me anything about them or cd changers in general thanx. Bestbuy has them on sale so if u can respond by the end of the week that would be super, thanks alot

well, keep this in mind...hardwired always sounds better than FM modulated. if you want your music to live up to its potential, hardwiring the changer is the way to go. does your stock unit not have that capability? if not, i say see if you can't get a stock toyota unit that does from someone on here. :)

Don't go the FM modulator route. I listened to an iPod through an FM modulator from ATL to DC and it sounded horrible compared to what a CD sounds like.

I feel like having a nice system only makes bad quality sources sound worse, as in the case I had with the iPod/iTrip setup. When the source is top notch my system is clear as hell, but anything that's below CD quality sounds like garbage.

Unless you live in So Cal or you have a fold out screen, I'd say it's unlikely someone will jack your headunit. They also have removable faces so they are less likely targets.

haha, i know but its not uncommon for people to actually break in ur car, look for ur face, and steal the hu if they find it or steal it anyways out of frustration, and also my windows would be broken. ive known two people who had this happen.
