will porting the heads help increase your top speed? and what range of your rpms will it be most rewarding. or is it not worth the hassle. and is thear a head gasket that will increase compression. i

i dont think porting your head will increase your top because your gauge cluster shows 110mph and you cant go over 110mph unless you change your gauge cluster to the corolla xrs if its possible,but you could get some good number on horsepower.

if you are talking about your head on the motor you might gain some hp and all i now is that when you port the head all its doing is giving you more air flow and Reduce restriction... thats how you will gain hp.....

The car is governed @ 112mph. It has nothing at all to do with the gauge cluster. It is governed at 112mph because the stock tires that come on the car are T speed rated (112mph). The computer controls the governor. Once the speed sensor tells the computer that the speed is 112mph, it will shut the fuel injection down until the speed drops to below 110 or so. Then it'll pick back up, cut off, pick back up, etc. Changing the gauge cluster won't do anything to raise the governor - that's inside the ECU.

Porting heads is a very precise job from what I've heard - needs to be done by QUALIFIED professionals for proper volumetric and flow rate. It's apparently pretty easy to port and polish a head and totally ruin it or hit a coolant jacket or an oil passage in the head - gotta really know what you're doing. If done properly, you can gain several hp and ft-lbs - even more with FI.

sorry my bad i think its 115mph,but i know you cant go beyond 115mph...so i dont know how you gonna increase your top speed???

I smoothed my intake ports down to the injector bulge tip (1 1/2" deep), after smooth boring my TB(+cooland bypass) and removing ridges and protruding fittings from intake manifold, and enlarged the outlets to match intake ports. I also removed flaws from exhaust ports and smoothed down to the split (also 1 1/2" deep), and enlarged outlets to match header. I did get great gains altogether in torque and max power, especially with JP exhaust+2 1/2" Magnaflow, CAI, UDP, ground upgrade, and now waiting on Camcon and wideband O2 sensor... http://www.importperformanceparts.n....html#Stage%201
The speed limiter is incredibly easy to reach now. You can buy a speed limiter disabler, or simply install a switch on the purple 'SPD' speed sensor input wire.

Along with porting you want to do other things too, like cams, pistons, header, etc... Just one thing won't make a huge difference...

I was reading that a valve job can be one of the most valuable modifications to increase power.

It's the most important or valuable doesn't neccessarily gain your more power... But rev's will be better, flow's better, etc...
