the XRS is a different beast with 170-hp VVTL-i engine, 6-speed manual transmission, 16" aluminum alloy wheels and standard rear spoiler

"The Corolla XRS is powered by a newly tuned version of the 2ZZ dual overhead cam engine and six-speed manual transmission found in both the Celica GT-S and Matrix XRS. The 1.8-liter four-cylinder produces 170 horsepower at 7,600 RPM and 127 lbs./ft. of torque at 4,400 RPM and delivers broader and stronger mid-range torque than the previous versions of the 2ZZ engine. And, it features a VVTL-i variable valve timing and lift system that produces a supercharged-like rise in power from 6,000 to 7,600 RPM. The result is a compact sport sedan that blends sub-eight-second zero-to-sixty acceleration with exceptional throttle response throughout its broad power band.

Despite the increase in power, fuel economy is hardly compromised with EPA ratings at 25 miles-per-gallon in the city and 32 on the highway."

edit:

unstable? the car is front wheel drive, so the weight is all in the front. this naturally makes the car a bit unstable but it should be very controllable. describe what you are experiencing. there may be a defect or damaged part of the suspension/chassis that needs attention.

and yes, i would recommend the supercharger. 100% TRD Supercharger with pully upgrade.

I believe it's closer to 40%, but I doubt it will fit your 2006. If it has an electronic controlled throttlebody then you are out of luck.

TRD Supercharger is probably about a 20-30% increase in power.

the supercharger is driven off the motor with a belt and pully so there will be a slight decrease in gas milage, even when driven normally. but the power increase through the entire power band is worth it! way worth it!

alright i'm off to bed :D
