    Alarm Install Question...56k, be careful!

hey peeps, i hope one of you guys can help me out with my alarm installation. last friday(early in the morning), my car got broken into and all my audio equipment got stolen. my head unit, amp and subs. pissed me off. they also tried to get into my wife's car but i think something spooked them so they took off. anyways, i did install an alarm for my wife's car. everythings working except for the door switch trigger. i am not quite sure where to hook up the wires for the door switch. could somebody in here help me out? i would really appreciate it. thanks in advance.

one more ? how do i put up pics in here? i am not too computer literate to post pics so please be gentle with me. thanks again.

I don't have the Haynes’s manual at hand, but the easiest way is this. Take apart the dome light. Just take out the screw and let it hang there. There should be a couple of wires. Your goal is to figure out which wire reads 12+ when the switch is on the "Door" position and the door opens. Then follow that wire it will more than likely head towards the driver's side of the car. I don't know where though. But tap the wire first and make sure you have found the correct wire before you start to find it.

ok, here's the deal. i need 2 wires to run it. one for the positive door switch, the other for the negative door switch. i went to the kick panel and followed the wires for the switch. i tapped it to the + and - wires, but to no avail. the alarm is set, but when i open the door, it still won't go off. maybe i got the wires wrong. i will try the dome light method, if it works, that will solve my problems. if not, could somebody let me know what color wires i have to tap into and where it is located? you guys are really helpful, any input is much appreciated. thanks again.

you only need to use the (-) wire on the alarm the (+) one is for ford's. the corolla is a negative signal car for the door trigger. so i believe you would use the green color wire from the alarm not the purple.

what kind of stereo did you have? like the one where you take the faceplate home or one with fixed faceplate? I'm kinda scared now cause I just put in a sliding panel one which can't be removed. Sorry to see ur rolla in a shape like this, I do feel ur pain, had my broken into 3 times but last 2 the alarm kicked in and nothing got stolen, so yeah it works.

i had the pioneer p6000 series with xm ready tuner, mp3/wma/etc. player. it had a detachable face. the fokers knew where to look for in my car. they found my hiding spot for my faceplate. they took off with my head unit, amp and my sub. there was minimal damage to the interior. the only thing that really broke inside was the antenna wire that was connected to the head unit. otherwise, they came armed with tools and a hammer/crowbar.

I never leave the face plate in the car, always made sure that I took it and always carried it in my hand so if anyone would be looking / spying on me to get to my car they would see that the face plate is home with me. Now i'm worried cause this new Lanzar 1900mp head unit I installed has a slide down face which doesn't deataches.
