Poking through firewall in 03 LE?

    Hi,

I am trying to find a hole in my firewall to route my 2-ga power cable. I am unable to find a hole. If anyone else has an 03 and routed their power cable through the firewall, can you tell me where you did it?

I previously owned an 01 CE and there was a rubber grommet just waiting to be punctured. No such luck in my 03 LE.

Thanks for the help in advance.

    Matt

my friend has an 03 LE and we made a hole right next to the ABS; it comes out on top of the pedals.

on the driver side of the firewall, shine a flash light and look down, you'll see a rubber cap thingy, poke on the TOP of it at a diagonal angle, if you hit any resistance, back out, it's probably a bunch of wires and you dont wanna poke through those, just keep poking till it goes in, it should go in very easily once you find space, and yes, it comes out of pedal area

Use a wire hanger and poke through the location slvr2000fdvspec indicated. Once you make it to the other end you can attach the wire you are running through to the end of wire hanger and pull it through. If it's a little tight, try greasing the wire and hole slightly.

I did this on my 05 corolla in the spot i think you all are talking about... it didn't just slide in for me, if you have a steady hand just cut a slit in the rubber. It's been a while so i forgot exactly what I did. You can get some pretty large stuff through that hole. I ran a headphone jack type end through it for my PA speaker mounted near my grill, so if that got through, anything can. it's easier to do from the engine compartment to the cabin, the other way is a lot harder cause you have to be a 3 year old to get under that damn dash.

in my car, when installing my amp and alarm, made two nasty holes in the firewall...but they're covered up now with my alarm siren =P

driver side, very top corner...seemed like a good place to drill.

there should be a cut out foam looking thingy just above your pedal, remove it and you will see the firewall. Those usually is safe to drill because it is meant for running new wires and it is safe because there is nothing behind that cut out. It usually leads directly under the steering hub on the engine bay.
