    Totalled 2001 Corolla CE

My sister totalled my car on the 3rd of August -- I took close to 30 pics, so I figured I'd post them here. It was my ride, and I loved it. I'm currently looking at a Sand colored 2003 Corolla LE with tint.

Click the car for the gallery.

I'm sorry I forgot to mention that my sister is perfectly okay -- no injuries whatsoever.

She hit a car that was parked illegally on the road. My insurance company said though that the moving car is at fault, whether or not the parked car is parked legally or illegally -- so it is coming out of my insurance. State Farm valued it as totalled, so I got about $2700 back.

I just signed papers for a 2003 Corolla LE with p/dl, p/w, tint, new wheels and rims, keyless entry, 45k mi for $12k, about $900 under NADA value. I'm picking it up tomorrow, and will have pics!

The car that she hit was parked illegally on the road. Half on the sidewalk, the other half was out actually on the road. She said she looked at her speedometer to make sure she was not going too fast, and the next thing she knew she was spinning around and blacked out.

When I said I got $2700 back, that was after my loan was paid off by the insurance. I actually did well with the appraisal, as I had bought the car for $8900 after tax, and they valued the car at $8300 after tax. I owed around $5700. So in two years my car really only depreciated in value by $600. I got a really good deal on the car.

And about the car parts, it's owned by the insurance company now, so I can't get anything from the car. Sorry!

The police determined that she was going around 40mph.

I'm going to go pick up my 03 corolla le tonight!!!

That's quite an awful wreck. Good to hear that no one got hurt. Enjoy your next Corolla.

I'm not sure -- the police report estimated it at around 40mph. We figured that my sister may have seen the car ahead, but assumed it was a moving vehicle.

At 40mph, the car is moving a touch over 58 feet per second. How long does it take to look at a speedometer? If she hit a parked car (whether it was illegally parked or not) in the time it took to look at the speedometer, she was driving too fast.

i know thoe whole deal with the moving vehicle is at fault. but just remember matts, you can still sue. it won't replace the corolla or lower your insurance, but it'll teach LaTroia not to do it again. Cause thats bullshit...

I backed into a car a few years ago and ran into the same B.S. The guy was parked in a no parking zone and I was backing out a E350 Cargo van with no window, and barely tapped his bumper. It would've been impossible for me not to hit him since the space was so tight, but damn insurance, paid him $500 for a new bumper...

i still say sue... because right now the insurance company is saying LaTroia is in the right for parking like that.

oh man, she was "looking at her speedometer"........ this sounds JUST like my sisters most recent wreck in the Civic. "Well mike, I was looking to see how much gas I had, and then uh yeah, I forgot to stop...."
