thats not killjoy. Im not a fan of the new IS at all.

the current IS is pretty close to perfect as far as an entry level luxury sports sedan goes I think. They got rid of it for something that looks alot more "generic". Im not feeling the lines of the new car, whereas the sharp, agressive lines of the IS300 were downright sexy. And then of course theres the fact that they've done away with the 2JZ inline 6.

oh and dont hate me, but the frontend reminds me of a Honda, and the rear reminds me of a Mazda 3. Thats NOT a good thing.

i think the 3.5L is the same engine as the avalon and probably will be in the future camry as well

    2.5L 4GR-FSE w/ D-4, Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS), and Dual VVT-i
    -201hp SAE for cdn

    3.5L 2GR-FSE w/ D-4, Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS), and Dual VVT-i
    -310hp SAE for cdn

    What engine are they using?
I cant imagine the aftermarket potential being as good as the current 2JZGE IS300.

Just my two cents....the cars pretty sharp. Not as revolutionary as the original one was (even in pictures) but I am sure the first time we see it in some street-race movie or in a music video we will start to warm to it. They've got tones of BMW in there (Chris Bangle must be laughing all the way to the bank and the Automotive Design Awards ceremony) as well. I have two problems with it though...

    1) I think Toyota should have stuck with the 1G and 2J engines. I think there's a bit of character that an I6 offers that a V6 doesn't.

    2) There's no handbrake lever. This isn't absultely necessary in an auto, but most manual drivers prefer a handbrake. Drifters won't like this set-up at all either.
