What wheel offset should I go with?

I'm going to get some 16x7 rota slipstreams for my 98 corolla, but really don't know what offset to get. They come in 40, 45, and 48 offset. I'm also really undecided on which color to get, but I am leaning towards the gunmetal w/ polished lip, btw my car is a maroon color. Any suggestions?

the offset on 16x7 wheels sold by TRD are +47mm.

    i have +45mm .

Hey supaloop, the offset should depend on how much you want the rims to stick out the wheel well. The smaller the offset, the more it will stick out the wheel well. An offset of 45 is prolly your best bet imo.

trust me, you want to get the right offset. I use to have +38 mm offset on my 15" rims and now I have TRD rims. The difference is something you can feel. It now rides better believe it or not and it corners better too. My 15" rims were riding on 195/50/15 made for comfort Michilens (the ones off the 3 series OEM BMW) to 16" TRD rims riding on Toyo Proxes and still more comfortable and rides better. Go figure.

Go with a 40 offset. The stock steelies are a 38 offset. Your best bet is to stay as close to that as possible. 40 won't rub.

wrong 40 all the way up to 45 will rub for 16x7 wheels also. btw, the stock wheels on a 98-02 are +43mm offset.

the offset is the distance from the center of the wheel, and in this case the wheel is 7 inches instead of 5.5 (stock). so you have to adjust for the new distance to the center of the wheel (7-5.5)/2 in inches *2.54 for mm and add that to 43mm to get 47mm which is the offset that trd 16x7 wheels have

JAMES, where did you get this info???? My stock steelies that came off my 01 have a 38 offset stamped right on the wheel. These 14" steelies are the same on 93-02 Corollas.

Also, I HAVE 17x7 wheels with a 40 offset now that DO NOT RUB! Last time I checked a 17x7 is bigger than a 16x7.

    NOW WHO'S WRONG??

The wheels pictured on my signature are +40 offset and are 16 x 7 and rubbed even with the lip rolled. Are you sure you have +40? Also what size tires do you have. I also know that the TRD wheels for the 98-02's are 47+ offset, and getting aftermarket wheels in +47 offset is really hard. Only very few companies do it. I have seen many corollas with 40+ to 42+ 16 and 17 inch wheels that rubbed, so it is not an isolated case.

Anyway, you are only saying that YOU don't rub, does not mean it does not happen. If you can find aftermarket wheels with +45 or more, then definitely go with that for better fitment.
