    Exhaust leak/Cat noise????

My 99 rolla, makes a ticking sort of a noise at higher rpms. It is almost always there once I exceed like 3k rpms, and just gets louder at the rpms get higher. If im driving in the rain and I go through a big puddle that wets the bottom of the car it gets REALLY loud. Im guessing a rattleing CAT, or possible exhaust leak. Not sure. My Wifed 2000 rolla does the same thing though just not as bad and she doesn't have exhaust on hers. Anyone else have similar problems?

Mine does the same thing... hit water and it gets real loud... not rain just puddles that splash the under carriage. Gets quieter after the water evaporates. I have no idea other than maybe a joint in the exhaust shrinking due to the fast cooling effect of the water and causing a leak. :shrugs:

guys have your 02 sensors voltage and resistance checked, make sure its in spec takes you a jack, 15 minutes and a voltmeter... if your 02 if faulty and pumping out too much fuel it will super heat your cat and boom you will not only need to replace a faulty o2 but also a new cat

    Meh?

What does that have to do at all with what we are talking about... a hot cat does not make exhaust noise. I also know that I am not running pig rich when getting over 35MPG running around to work and some town driving... I have though about checking my O2 but not becuase of exhaust noise... I am still thinking it is an exhaust leak.

running even a little rich can super heat the cat and crack it over freeway distances causing a leak,

more likely after thinking about it if its a ratlle its probably the heat shield
