Ronald Reagan? What in the hell? He was a halfway decent actor, but as California's governor and as a President, he had a lot of work to do.

I think Fred Rogers should have been somewhere in the top 35 or so-- but I haven't been following the show since it seems to be "The 100 Greatest Americans According To the MTV Brainwashed" instead of a real look into our nation's history and enduring contributions by such Americans as Susan B. Anthony (women's suffrage); the Wright Brothers (aviation); Henry Ford (mass produced automobiles); Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, & John Jay (co-authors of the Federalist Papers, with Madison often called "The Father of the Constitution); Patrick Henry (a co-author of the so-called "Anti-Federalist Papers", without whom and others like him we would not have our Bill of Rights); Antonio Meucci (telephone)-- the list could go on and on.

In a hundred years, those "Greatest Americans" named by the Discovery Channel that have not already been dead at least 75 years will not appear on the next list of greatest Americans.

The VIEWERS nominated the top 100.

Susan B Anthony, Henry Ford, Wright Brothers, Hamilton, Alexander Graham Bell....WERE on the list dood.
I think the top 5 are deserving of being in the top 5:

    Reagen
    Lincoln
    MLK
    Washington
    Ben Franklin

Reagan was a great president, to many one of the greatest presents of their lifetime. He had a HUGE hand in the fall of the cold war.

I find it ironic though.....Washington had slaves, and only released them in his will once he died....MLK beat him out, and Lincoln had the hand in releasing them. Franklin had slaves as well.

Oprah Winfrey deserves a spot on their as well. Her accomplishments are endless.

But Dr Phil??? that guys a tool!
