How Do I hack WI-FI?

Ok so there are like 10 wifi connections in my range here at my apt, only like 2 work and are unprotected, there are 2 others that are awesome signal strength but password protected. The network I want to hack is named "test" don't know if that is a default name for a wireless router that might have a default password. anywho, how do I get into the obtain a password to get into the network?

You dont. Most of the wireless networks run a WEP security, which you need a 26 numeric password. If you are lucky they are only using a passphrase that has a minimum of 8 characters.

Obivously Im gonna loose this one. To the one person who CARED thanks somuch for the wifi crack site. For the rest of you go complain a bout the free porn depriveing strippers everywhere of there royalty!

I would be pissed if someone hacked my wireless. It's not like we're getting good speeds with DSL to begin with, then having someone piggyback off our connection? If they cracked our WEP key, I would track that person down.

That is why you limit your wireless base by MAC addresses.

I use to have mine open, but had like 3 or 4 people on mine all the time (live in a building) so I recently restricted the access to just my machines. I don't like WEP, and honestly if they break into your base, it is hard to physically track them down.

Where I live, theres 3 wireless connections available, 1 is ours, another is a business (its WEP), and the other is wide open, and its happened a few times (usually when a roomate resets the router or something) that i've connected onto the open connection, heh... shitty speeds though

the only reason i leech off the neighbor on occasion is thanks to an agreement with them. if they need to get online and their router isn't working, they have permission to use ours...and vice versa. theirs is not secure, while ours is...they have to ask us every month if they want to continue to use it, since we change the password fairly regularly. fortunately, they haven't asked in awhile.

just to bring up a point.. netzero is really fast better then aol.. i used netzero for a month or so before ditching it

I don't get a lot of hackers in my area, and my wifi access point barely reaches the end of the driveway. I don't broadcast my SSID, but I don't have WEP on or network ID's (though I should, that definetely locks anyone out).

There are so many wifi access points in Tulsa.....when i turned the wifi feature on for my PSP i found wifi everywhere and most of them had no wep key.....but then again, thats probably why Tulsa is ranked 61 for the most "unwired" city (most accessible wireless internet).....seattle ranked 1st so i suggest u move there, hehe...

In fact MAC security is mostly the LEAST secure, other then nothing. You can fake a MAC address lickety split. Using Airsnort to sniff out the wireless cards around you that are connecting to it. Then there's a program that will change it for you or you can do it via the options of most cards.

Despite what everyone says about if they get cracked and blah blah about tracking them down, you possibly could but you won't. Not unless they are UBERLY stupid (yes I said uberly) you might get on their network group, you might get on their shares and crash their pc but as to find them you'll need some hard evidence.

The thing is that most people aren't l337 h4ck0rz... lol... They won't know that not broadcasting your SSID doesn't mean you secure. Most people will scan with the windows based "check for wireless availibility in my area" and if they don't see anything they won't go any further.

And it's not that I care, just misinformation is well annoying.

my opinion is that if people are foolish enough to just get a wireless access point and throw it on the internet without any sort of security measure then they shouldn't complain about people using their wireless network. there is a wealth of infomation on the internet about the subject and if someone is so lazy that they can't be bothered to secure their shit, they can't really get too mad when someone else uses it. it's like leaving your front door wide open and then getting pissed when people are in your house.
