T51 turbo, 2.5" exhaust piping manifold back, custom exhaust mainfold, custom FMIC (sparaco personal preference), 700cc injectors, dyno tuned aftermarket ECU (unichip), 85mm bored out pistons, eagle connecting rods, forged crank, ported and polished head, hi rev clutch/flywheel, and boost to 20psi ;)

oh oh oh one more thing you need to complete this project.........

Ok we are talking about a 3-4k turbo setup versus a $5 cup of coffee. BIG difference there. I mean if you just have some money to blow or rich parents (in either case you'd be stupid to be driving a Corolla anyways for reliability or mostly, performance), then go for it.

I have been there...I have expierenced all the problems that come with turbo. Corolla's just cant handle much. And dont think that you wont have problems because you will...I've been there, and when you dont have the cash is when something goes wrong.

Do what ya want man...It will make you happy for a while, but after you begin to have problems, it will make you hate sport compacts period...I mean, I let my car sit and drove a Z71 for a long time. Do what will make you happy man. But think about priorities in life before you do something like this. Think about the future for once.

well thats cuz u used it as a daily driver, even if u didnt have turbo the car would have problems. Im not sayint that turbo wont cause ANY problems, but the guy is asking what he should get for his turbo, not what he shouldnt do. Also we all admit that most of the stuff we do to our cars is not really practical, but if everyone thought the same way you did, this forum would not exist.

You want turbo...Buy a car that is turbo'd stock...and go from there.

Turboing my Corolla was the dumbest thing I have ever done.

Ummm...You have an SRT4 and you want to spend your money modding a Corolla??? WTF is that?! You, my friend, are totally misguided!

Seems like the Corolla should be your daily driver and the SRT the "fun car"... You're backwards man.

    TurboRolla21 must be on crack...haha..

when i had my corolla turbo'ed, i had the time of my life.
never had any problems that were caused by the turbo. and i did run it at 14 psi's a couple of weeks.

if you are mechanically inclined i would think that you wouldn't spend over 2 grand. but that's me.

well if its an auto tranny, u might wanna get a high stall tc, the transgo shift kit, and maybe a tranny cooler, i've heard a lot of times about auto tranny's slippin cuz it cant handle the boost.

Allright, i'm too tired and lazy to read this whole thread.. but.. i wouldn't waste my time boosting a FE yota motor... i love toyota to death, but there's a reason for a G head and an F head.. F head's have already been engineered very well to do what they do, and thats provide fuel economy with some better lower end torque. there are just too many fundamental differences between the F and G head.. So, if ur gonna turbo it, change to a stronger engine for it first, and do it right, the first time.. trust me, its cheaper and less time consuming if u get what u want the first time..

but if u still wanna do it, go for it.. there's nothing wrong with wanting to do it. and will it work, yea, as long as its done right, will you be completely satisfied though? depends on how heavy ur foot is really...

Actually, if you consider the head design differences, the F head is actually better for turbo, the G head is better for n/a power. The lower end on the other hand is stronger on the G engines but if you're only going with low boost there shouldn't be problems.

well i'm not going to argue the point (i'm not busting out the o.g. argueing on the internet is like running in the special olympics image), we'll just say there is some difference in opinions...

but yes u can run a turbo on an F head. the best thing u can do with an F head is give the engine more air. but between the fundamentals of the F head and the typical internals of a motor originally equipped with an F head, i wouldn't try pushing the motor too hard.. so we do agree on that. and for a low boost app, an F head may be the better choice, for a variety of reasons. but if he's like me, a low boost application might seem quick at first, but then ur bored of it and wanna go faster (maybe i'm just addicted to speed and power)...

all i will close with is to view the motors that toyota equips with a turbo or supercharger from the factory (for both productions cars, and racing projects)... and for information on toyota motors, and what things tend to work and not work, check out toysport.com ....

i hope i made that graceful enough, not trying to be an ass, just stating an opinion..

but if anyone has a lot of money they just wanna give me, i can finally show u what the king swap would be in a corolla.... minus the old school 7M-GTE corolla's and stuff like that, something that could actually be streetable..

imo any engine that is turbo or s/c doesn't matter if it is oem turbo engine or aftermarket add ons turbo kit it will never last as long as N/A engine so comparing to a N/A engine is BS... whats wrong w/ a turbo corolla... they came stock on the TOM's Edition in asia for one yr a Turbo 4A-FE...

All you guys talking about reliability issues.... I just want about 8 psi of boost. Bolted on a 1ZZFE with stock internals, 50,000 miles, in a '99 Corolla. Do you think this humble amount of boost (8 psi) would do much harm?

I considered swapping in a 2zzge from a celica gt-s, but I've heard that the 2zz has many problems with it stock. Granted, boosting a 1zz would have consequences, but a swap just seems too far out for me.

Plus, with the turbo, I can get the props I need from the CiViC crowd with my BOV and FMIC!!!11!1!@2 </sarcasm
