My next question is how reliable is Alco gonna be, is there video inputs for a TV tuner, outputs for hooking the audio up to the stereo (or a way to hack them?)

one thing I can see that's a pain in the ass is that the drive tray is vertical (meaning you have to clip it everytime you stick in a CD/DVD), and plus you need the space for that drive to go back. Walmart also sold another unit where you have a base player (with remote), then two 7" LCD screens, and I just saw it in the store today and it does have audio input as well as audio output to the stereo. Can't beat it for $240:

again, durabrand not a well known brand, but typically when walmart sells something like this, they are the only distributor, and typically it's not total crap (should work for a few years). as big of a company as walmart is, they tend to make sure they're selling good cheap stuff. Hook that baby up to a Ps2 mini and you can watch DVD's and play games for under $400.. not bad if you ask me. My only beef is they seem a bit bulky? Perhaps they could be hacked a bit.

wally world sells Pioneer stuff...should we avoid that, too?

Sam's Club(which is OWNED by wally world) sells really nice tvs for cheaper than the electronics stores...and they're all name brand(Sony Wega?!?!!). should we avoid them too?

blanket statements suck when they're wrong ;)

agreed! I shop at COSTCO all the time! You can get kickass deals on quality stuff there. I'd buy car stuff there before I'd get it from Best Buy, thats for sure. And not just poor people shop there either.

One of my friends had a durabrand dvd player setup for his kids, and the picture was just terrible. I personally have a jvc 6.5 monitor ($160 ebay new) and jvc cd/dvd deck ($260) for my system. Its pretty awesome except my car player doesnt like some of my burned dvd's (single layer)
