My 280Z HID Projector Retrofit Prototypes!...56K Huge Warning! 21 pics!

What's up y'all? Well after having the 1st HID projector retrofits made for my gen Rolla...when I bought the Z, the halogens just weren't doing the job (nonetheless, I knew this b4 I even bought the car). Once u go HID projector, u can't go back.

So I talked 2 my friend...mr. sean2sean again about getting 2gether and coming up w/ a design for the Z, like we did for the Rolla. I brought over some spare headlight lamps and went over a design and all, but only big concern was space...the back of the headlight is in the fender well...it can only go so far and then there's the tire. So we would have to make a custom backing and everything to protect it all.

Then Sean calls me up and says I have to come over and check out what he got his hands on and let me know if I like them.

He came across a set of prototype HID projectors imported and designed/constructed in Germany, only 1 side was produced so far, the other still being constructed at the time. It is a clear projector lens and also has high and low beam magnetic feature, the complexity of the projector allows it to give off more light than r projectors here...also the projector is one that isn’t even in the US yet (well except mine). And everything is plug in play...unlike the Rolla.

Make a long story short...I said hell yeah to being able to have the 1st HID projectors on my gen Z! I didn't like the housing on them...it was all chrome as soon below, so I told Sean how I wanted them painted and he had them professionally done. I picked up the parts Wed. night and installed/aligned them myself on Fri. night, I used the bulbs (4300k) and ballasts (valeo) from the Rolla since I sold the headlight projectors I had to SkyAce.

I'm so glad I can see again! HID projectors rock!

Here's all the pics that I had a hard time choosing to post...

The prototypes in there all chrome housings...blah!...too much bling for me...

looks nice man. and DAMN i love your Z. that's the classic japanese sports car right there. nothing against the new Z's but they can't touch that generation in the sexay category.
