My ram air intake vs stock air box with K&N.....???

I've noticed that ever since it got hot here my car has been feeling kind of laggy. So after about an hour or so of driving in the city and another time half an hour i opened my hood when i got home and i felt my intake, it was burning hot. I couldn't keep my hand on the tube for more then 2 seconds. The filter was also hot.
So i'm thinking maybe my stock air box with the K&N actually worked better.... What do u guys and girls think? I think the stock air box actually pools more cold air and is more efficient in the summer time and would provide me with more hp

same here too, the weather is getting hotter and hotter. i can feel the heat by touching the fenders.
try getting a cold air intake with a bypass valve too. may help a lil bit.

i'm not gonna spend another hundred sometin for a air intake.... and i'm pretty sure they don't make a cold air for my car except a EL prototype one but it still won't help probably cause the pipe will still be hot

theres really no "True" cold air intakes. unless you live in alaska, then it is :p
but it'll still let alot though, and even better at night time. i had a CAI on last summer, and after a long drive, i felt that the pipe was kinda cold, sometimes ice cold.
but really depends on the weather.

and cant you make your own CAI?

Well idk im' still trying to figure out what would be better for the summer time the existing air intake or the stock air box with the K&N

your current one allows the engine to draw in more air, stock is kinda restrictive.

well if you're not too sure which one to do. then test both of them out. run the short ram intake for a day, and do the stock. and compare.

A heatshield can dramatically improve heatsoak.

I don't know how hot it's getting where you live, but I've heard you can harm your car if the intake temperature gets too high.

speaking with the knowledge of a jetta owner, we get more performance gains out of simply replacing the airbox filter with one from k&n, dyno proven by a friend who did heavy testing on it. Not even doing an intake. That said i love my GHL intake. We have intercoolers too so that could be part of it, but youd be surprised how much a simple filter swap can increase hp.

i get challened to race all the time, especially today wat the hell!!!
i'm driving back home from NE philly and this dude in a Acura TL-S 2002 i belive, starts reving his engine at me and flying past me and slowing down and flying past me.... i'm like hell no are u kidding me i'm not stupid so ijust ignored him. Then a Honda Accord station wagon challened me, it was around a 1993 type one and i'm like ok i can u and i did lol but still....
I want luxury and faster car.... i love my rolla but in all reality with a 19-20 power to weight ratio u can't really beat most cars on the road, if they really tried best thing u can do is tie them or just barely beat them or get ur ass handed down to u by a V6 camry or some other car....

    But........

    for now
    Long live my beasty ROLLA!!!!!

if there were only more mods to it like a sentra or a stupid retarted civic

I can account for the "Alaskan CAI" :D
When it's -45 you can really notice a difference!

You could fabricate a heat shield and wrap the pipe in manifold tape. that will help keep the air intake cooler.

Also... if you want to go more extreme on the modding, either get a hood scoop and try to direct cool air towards the intake filter. Or just cut vents in the hood to help cool down the under hood temp by letting that hot air out
