280 is what they claim to have for the G35... the 350z track and 35th anniversary edition claim to give 300... chances are they actually do..........................................

i wouldnt say that toyota is going soft... just becasue they dont have a top horsepower car means that they just are pawing off the line of performance cars. they have some nice performance cars all over the globe just not here in the states. You have to remember that toyota is a generally conservative company and they spend millions of dollars and years on researching before they release a car... i would say within the next 5-10 years toyota will have several performance cars here in the states

I think Toyota is making a good decision in getting rid of some of the cars that are not selling well and that are not that profitable.

Face it, if Toyota gave you a 300+ car you all would still whine as to how expensive it is, and what is Toyota thinking pricing a car to be that expensive. Well, power = money. Or sometimes I guess money =power ;P

And don't you all forget the power of the "pussy", it cannot be underestimated.

mitzu has the evo MR has 300 if im not mistaken cause the evo 8 has 275hp
and nissan has the 350z 35th aniversery edition 300hp
infinity g35 has 295hp

im sure their are others, but the point is simple toyota is "selling out" to econ junk...i will not be pleased or have any pride in toyota until they produce another model worth recognition...

i follow economics myself, and isnt the trends showing that fast cars are back in the market? alot of these hi performance japanese cars that died out in the mid 90's (your 3000gt vr-4's, nissan 300zx TT, supra TT, mr2 T, rx-7 T, NSX, etc.) are coming back into the market...wouldn't it make sense to make a performance car to compete with this market? idk just my two cents i got a C in economics soo....

wow that just made me think....lexus has some performance cars, the IS300, maybe thats what toyotas stratigy is... they are making thier products generation oriented. the scion is for kids, toyota is for old people concerned with saving gas and money, and lexus is the performance fleet, with the new awd GS430, and IS430 soon to come out...interesting, do you agree?

    the IS300 isn't a performance car. it's a sporty sedan.

im speaking of the new 2006 IS300, but even the old IS300's could be easily modded into supercars with hp figures well over 500+

lexus is moving in a whole new direction of performance cars.

for instance the GS series with awd is trying to compete with acura's new line of performance cars such as the new RL that comes equiped with 300 STOCK hp and symetrical awd

Proof? The problem was due to poorly designed parts such as the intakes, plenums and headers earlier on.. But the mods do add hp, as people show gains... And the SCed and TTed VQs are doing good too...

well i'm no economic major either.. in fact I hate the subject with a passion. I never said I thought toyota is making the best decidion but being the top japanese car manufacturer, I'd think toyota's market analyists know what they're doing.
Although toyota have made some great high performance cars in the past, even in japan they new Toyota models (2000+) are not a popular base for tuning. You could see the large amount of NSX, and 350Z used in JGTC, but only 1 lone celica in the GT300 class (wedssports), (and a mrs by Arta back in 03)..

    But anyways, anyone remember this?

The 350Z is 265 at the flywheel and runs the same 0-60 as the 00 Celica GTS before they tuned it down.

Actually, they already have more TRD support than a lot of cars that have been out for a while, ie. the Celica and Rolla. I do agree that they are the bastard children though. Especialy compared to the older performance Toyotas.

It's called the "long nose" 350Z and it's disgusting, but I thought it was only overseas for right now. They had to redesign it so they could race it in the JGTC. The one built for the track was too different from the production version.
