160MPH with only 170HP in a Corolla? I think not.

Ok, how do you feel having a glass roof above you? For me, that killed any want of the TC I had. Death on wheels. I rock hits it, bam, shatters, f'n expensive and probably going to wreck from the suprise of raining glass. Screw that.

The XRS probably can't hit 160. But what does HP have to do with top speed?

    XRS > TC

    Faster, more convenient.

Just about EVERYTHING. Sounds like you need some insight about power and overcoming aerodynamic drag. Oh yeah, gearing is important as well, forgot about that. If you tach out there is your top speed.

    Should I trade my rolla?

Hey guys just want y'alls opnion on if I should keep my 2002 rolla which just passed 70k or trade it for a new rolla XRS or a TC coupe. Celicas are just too expensive( for the price of a GT i can get the TC) and my dealer can put me in it for the same monthly payment as my 02 now. Im starting school next week and i love my car now but im just thinking of the extra mileage ill be putting on it and not sure if i will be able to a lot of engine modifications with that kind of mileage on it now. I now the XRS is around 22k which is a little much for . Ive that the 03-up rollas arent as fast as mine and their top speed is only 100mph. PLEASE correct me if im wrong hearing this from unreliable sources . I wouldnt mind going for a S model if it has more potential than mine plus i will going for a manuel THIS TIME thanks

Ok guys thanks but you know ill just keep my 02 its almost off warranty and to tell you the truth i like the the body style of my rolla versus the new one (sorry!) the front is just aggressive with the headlights so im keeping it . Besides this is my first car that ive bought on my own with no help from anyone and im proud of that dammnit sooo..... i know thats this has been asked before but how much and what would be involved in doing a manuel swap ( whats downtime too)?

Yeah everyones been on my ass to do it but alot of rollas are auto and that doesnt stop them. Look at Vamp's he's the reason i dont mind the auto cause of his mods hes done. But ive heard of someone trying to install the manumatic from the MR-S into the rolla. Is that true??

j-rolla, the topic of auto-to-manual swaps in the rolla has been beaten to death on this board for years. Every angle of it you could possibly want to read is available in the tech section under engine & transmission. And, I'll even give you the cliff's notes: It involves more work than you want to do, or should bother doing. It is in no way worth the time, effort, and money involved and ultimately you will spend a ton of money to make your car's value decrease significantly. Don't like your auto? Buy a car with a manual.
