I finally got my s techs on last week. Even after reading all the posts here, I still decided to go with the stech+tokico combo. My IS had the same setup, and felt very smooth. Turns out, most of you were right. The ride is very harsh, but acceptable in my opinion. Like Laura said "it's looks vs ride", and I love the way it looks...so I'm happy...

I love the ride man.. it's not too harsh.. I'm guessing you guys didn't get the bump stops shaven and riding on it all the way through :p

i have an 01 w/ tockico and tein s tech and i get the same hitting... and the same hitting when i pull a corner tight.. thats why i was saying my dropzone springs could handle corners better,, cause i never heard naything with them and my tockicos. so i should make sure they cut my stopper?

You are the one full of shit.

First of all, this is not my first time lowering a car. And yes I do know how to drive a lowered car. (2 inches lower than stock does not require a special license unless you think you're very talented cus you know how to drive a lowered car. I personally believe that lowering your car should be a safe mod. Just for you info 97dx, I had my car professionally lowered by a shop and I also had my alignment done. You wern't in my car when I hit a bump in the freeway so STFU. Furhter more, I'd like to state that I do live in CA. The roads arn't all that leveled. But yes, I did return my car back to a more driveable spring rate (TRD Springs). My story was to warn others about my experience but people like 97 DX should STFU with his crap. He doesn't even drive the same year car that I had lowered on the teins. You don't know jack shit, you need to shut the fuck up. Peace

he may not drive the same year, but 93-02 suspensions are the same, so there's not going to be a drastic difference in how both rides. My guess is something else was wrong in your suspension or they didnt install your springs & struts correctly.

oh and you both need to grow up and stop the personal attacks.

Just because the springs fit doesn't mean the cars are exactly the same. First of all, I know the springs were installed correctly. I had the bumpstops cut in half and installed by a professional shop. When I had the Tein springs taken out and the TRD springs installed, the mechanics all agreed the TRD were far more superior in quality and craftsmanship. Secondly, it was only when I went over this bump where I almost lost control and died. Near death experience. That was my experience. Take it for what it's worth. Shit, if you like bouncing around town, be my pleasure. I'm only giving my two cents.

    97dx..?
First of all. You need to grow up it sounds like. I posted on this board to share my experience with the tein springs. I didn't expect you to agree with my post. Obviously no two cars are identical. Your 97dx is obviously a much more older beat up model than my 02 corolla. If tein works for you, it might not work for me. Don't tell me to STFU cus you don't agree. You need to educate yourself before you make a fool of yourself on this board. Go about life with you attitude and someone will do society a favor and put a bullet in your gay ass. If you enjoy riding around in your beat up 97dx with cheap ass tein springs thinking you're a highly skilled driver cus your slammed it to the ground, go ahead moron. I know for a fact that the road out there is not entirely smooth. If you like bouncing around town thinking your the shit cus your ride is lower than everyone else, go ahead. I hope you go over a speed bump, ignite a spark under your car and blow your dumb ass to pieces hahah. Don't hate cus you can't afford better springs. Go suck it.

    Let's rewind...

Recap of what people had to say about the gay tein springs:

ninety four: "When I go over moderately bigger bumps though, I hear a loud banging/crashing sound come from the wheel wells. When I corner hard, I actually hear the banging sound over and over, like the suspension is trying to compress, but is hitting something and repeadly bouncing back. That only happened on one occasion, but it was scary as hell."

Chenuine: "I have s techs on my 98, i had them on with dead stock struts. the spring rate was CRAZY. my car would fly up and down"

Pantyraider: "i agree"

Laura: "I have tokico and s tech.. and I hate the ride.... i used to have dropezone springs and it was a way better ride, and better performance"

Suwand28: "Turns out, most of you were right. The ride is very harsh"

Most of us agreed that Tein is a bad spring. Even 97dx, the moron himself admitted to saying :
"when you hit a big pothole = BANG yeah it normal". This guys is a freakin moron. Bang? It's normal? Have you ever ridden in a car over uneven roads and hear a BANG noise and then tell your passenger..."oh its normal." hahahha You are a freakin moron.

Then he goes on to contradict himself by saying:
"steve403 and pantyraiderif you 2 don't know how to drive a fucking lowered car
than put the stock back, and that for safety when hit a bump at 45mph on the freeway before an 18 wheeler gun over
if you don't know what are you talking please stfu!!!
people are learning from eachother STOP your BS stories to scare other".

Conclusion. 97dx is a moron. Most of the people on this thread hate the tein springs. Yea it looks good, but its not safe and its not an upgrade in suspension at all. If any, it hurts your suspension and its a downgrade. Don't waste your money on these crappy springs. For all I know, this 97dx guy probably has shares of stock in tein haha.

Actually, there was a problem with the installation of my springs, not a problem with the quality of the units. I only paid $150 to get them installed, so I'm not really surprised. I love my Teins and I don't think I'd trade them for anything less than coilovers, so don't use anything I've said as an attack on the springs. I wouldn't mind if they were a little stiffer actually...

Stiffer? I think they are stiff enough, Yes they ride rough over bumpy roads and big dips on the highway, but i think my problem is that my stock struts are dead and i did not shave the bumpstops like i was supposed to when i installed the springs.

As soon as i get my new struts, maybe a week or two, i hope it will ride better.

kekeke the springs could be stiffer ;)

steve403 .. I've actually read your posts earlier about your problems with the tein springs and I've decided to go ahead .. I was actually thinking of the H techs..... I've had them installed on my car professionally by a person who deals a lot with toyotas .. had them on for about 3 weeks now.. and I have absolutely no problems whatsoever with going over big or small bumps.. my ownly guess to why that happened with your suspension set up would be either defect in the springs or your suspension was incorrectly installed . I've had a friend sit in my car today, as well as family members in the past few weeks... and they all said the car rode comfortable and wasn't too too harsh (except for my mom haha she loves the soft ride).. btw.. my car is a 01 corolla .. so we share the same chassis type, etc...

I've heard mixed reviews about the tein S techs.. my personal review is that I love it.. I would support this product 100% and I would say that the S techs are recommended by me as a spring that you can drive daily on ;) ..

and reguards to other posts.. please remember to respect each other .. I may not be a mod on this board, but I certainly know how to contact one ;)

The TRD springs are also a very good spring aswell.. I've sat in a friend who had ruffly the same set up as you, and it was pretty nice :) .. wasn't as stiff as mine.. but definitely a nice set up.
