Engine need help with some opinion on this problem

    need help with some opinion on this problem

    my car 95 rolla 1.6L 4A-FE 3 Spd Auto

    when i start my car idling and i can smell gasoline from the back plus my engine is running alittle rough, when i turn to AM on my deck i hear this whinning noise that is very annoying when acclerate... is it time to change my spark plugs??

    thats the one under the rear seat rite?? but the thing is the smell is not coming from inside its like outside... i was thinkin that there is un burn fuel going into my exhaust...

    I think it's just your cat not warm up yet. It happened to my 01 rolla when cold start too.

    if you smell gasoline, check fuel filter. Might have a leak there. Buddy's celica had the same problem.

    When the engine is cold, it does run quite rich to improve driveability and warm up faster.

    If you smell gas outside the vehicle (perhaps from the exhaust??), then I would check fuel pressure...perhaps the fuel injectors are leaky. Could also be the fuel pressure regulator. When they fail, they usually cause the fuel pressure to run on the high side, which would definitely cause the smell of fuel b/c you're running rich.

    Check your spark plugs. If you're running rich, they will have carbon deposits on them.

    The buzzing is almost certainly spark plug wires.
