    Direct Swap, a reality??!!

while we know the xrs engine is a different 1 from the regular/s rolla, now my question is was the modification done to the car or to the engine to make it fit correctly? and if it was 2 the engine can it be directly swapped into a regular corolla (swapping the tranny aswell ofcourse)

i would imagine it to be a fairly simple engine swap... assuming the wiring harnesses are compatible. If not, oh god. I just finished helping my friend remove an entire wiring harness from a junked 95 240sx to make his motor swap into his 90 240sx possible. THAT is a pain in the ass.

lowrolla - they're not...at least not between the 2ZZ and, say, an 01/02 corolla...

assuming you're speaking of an 03+ rolla... not counting all the miscellaneous small components you'll need mounts, ecu, wiring, i/e manifold(from the XRS), possibly axles(axles are hard to say... most likely depends on if your car can support the XRS mounts in the stock locations *read note)... the tranny would need the linkage from the XRS in order to use the shifter from the stock location... probably would want to check if the gauge cluster is diff... also if you wanna do it might wanna see if there is a diff between the GT-S ecu as opposed to the XRS(dunno if they're any diff though)... exhaust system would be a good thing to customize at this point as well...

I say build up your 1zz... but that's a personal preference

*so far what I've read is that Dr. Tweak had to change out the axles(this may or may not be because he used custom motor mounts[98-02 bodies do not have a 2zz option)... a celica GT(5spd) and GT-S(6spd) use the same axles...
