how long do stock clutches last?

i know this is a really general question. i guess it really matters how you drive the car and how much you slip the clutch.
on average, how long is the life of the clutch if you drive it correctly?

it's one of those "it depends" questions.

my clutch is already slipping on my xA at 14K an exedy is in my future.

my corolla was perfectly fine at 77K..

my dad has 260K miles on his pickup's original clutch.

it all depends on how you treat it, and original quality of the part.

yikes, slipping at 14k? you must treat it like crap or have a hell of alot of fun with it.
i bought a ford asipre with an original clutch in it, it had 114k miles. it was ok, till we learned how to drive stick on it. we would rest on a hill and let out the clutch with gas...yeah that was terrible for it.

My dad has told me that he has never replaced one in his life. I changed mine in my Corolla at about 50k miles.

depends, oem shouldn't cost more than $200-300 MAX. get a performance or heavy-duty one can be a little more, not much though.

I've been told (by shops, mind you) that you're supposed to have the flywheel resurfaced whenever you get a new clutch. Dunno if it's true or not, but this is an added expense whenever you change your clutch.

    That's just for the parts...

Unless you can do it yourself, labor is well over $300..I was quoted anywhere from $340 to $500+. :(

250,00km is typical on a Toyota clutch under correct driving. My first car has near 200,000 km on the clutch, my Celica has probably 150,000km on its second clutch, and my XRS...bout 10,000km

What about flywheels? Is it supposed to last the life of the car?

94,000 miles on my original clutch and still going strong-just another solid Toyota part!

My last car was a Honda and that original clutch lasted 98,000 miles. The second clutch had 105,000 miles and was going strong when I sold it. I don't beat the shit out my cars though.
