    CAI or SRI?

I'm so lost on whether or not i should by the AEM CAI or SRI kit... o_o the CAI as far as my friends have told me gives a really pleasing sound, and has more gains to offer...but it can get soaked in the rain, and possible have water leaked into my engine. SRI on other hand has smaller gains, and it can get heatsoaked when idle. But at least I don't run the risk of getting water in my engine.

If I'm wrong on any part of this, please correct me. So what's the deal with you guys that installs CAI in your car? Aren't you afraid to get it soaked?

You'd have to be running through water that was probably 12" deep before you would even start to touch the air filter. It locates it behind the foglight.

The AEM CAI made my engine knock REAL bad in mid rpms due to a lean mixture. IMO, it was due to a crappy design by AEM. Some people love it and have no problems. I, personally, will never have another CAI on my car b/c I don't want to have to buy a new engine. I would choose an SRI, if I were ever going to mod my intake again - and it probably would not be AEM.

Hm, seems like AEM's not the choice for me then. Well, what WOULD be a good brand CAI?

and 12" of water is not that hard to run into (remember the two weeks of endless raining in SoCal? 12" deep puddles are everywhere) :/

....depending on what car you have, you might not have a choice.

Can we settle this debate once and for all? I have both right now but currently the ELP CAI is installed. It's only been on for a little over a month but ive had no problems. Has anyone on this forum ever had any problems with hydrolock or any other water related problems due to their CAI? I personally don't think a splash would be a problem, i think it would take the front end of your car being in a puddle big enough to reach the filter.
