If you drive a 98-02 rolla it fits in perfect without any kind of cover plate.. that's probably the thing I like about corolla the most.. Pop off the whole piece, take out 4 screws, install stereo, done!

What do you guys think of the Sony decks? And yeah, I was looking at the stereo mounting kit from crutchfield, I think the pocket would be a good place to stash the remote.

I really don't know where to start with picking decks. My friend told me to get Alpine and I asked him why and he says "I dunno, some guy at work says his is okay, but it's ugly."

So yeah, hoping some of you could just give me some recommendations. Needs to play MP3 CD's, but other than that, good sound quality and not ass ugly. Thanks.

    Stereo Mounting

Heh, so I finally decided to drop my stock headunit and get another one. I was avoiding it for some time because I felt that nothing would blend in as well as the stock stereo.

Anyways, I need to know what the little thing you put over the stock stereo slot so that you can fit a standard deck in there. A few of you on the forum have it, I just don't know what it's called so I can get it.

Thanks. Also, any recommendations on a deck? $150-300

The 03+ corollas won't blend in as well as the old ones. The stereo actually has a bit of a curve around the middle, so it's not completely square like most aftermarket car audio systems.

Get an audio system with mp3 functionality on it. It's a must if you want to laugh at how your friend's stock 6-cd changer can't compare to yours.

I'm also in the market for an aftermarket audio system, although I will be going for one with a motorized 7" lcd display and dvd capability (it runs for $1000+, and that doesn't include installation). I'm broke, but I'll think about it when I recover.

The 05s don't look nearly as good with aftermarket stereos as the 98-02s did. I have an 04 with a Panasonic C-5310U in it. Perfect for me. I got it for $250 Canadian, installed it myself, good to go. Sounds good, has a whole bunch of shit I don't need and never use (such as mp3-cd capability...in fact, I hardly use the CD or radio player in it at all - 95% of it's playtime is just playing from the AUX IN)

I think there is a whole kit that you can get that will give you a pocket below the radio to fill in the gap. www.crutchfield.com

Alpine is nice but its too simple. There is a new pioneer just came out and its pimp as shit. There is also a new JVC that is pimp but not sure about their quality. There is an all black Sony with blue light background which looks simple but pimp. Go back to www.crutchfield.com to see more decks and choose for yourself.
