It also means you can do the same with a Solara. the TC coming out is great for the I4 Solara guys. I guess this means my mom's engine should be able to take some abuse.

what do you mean by that? The Celica isnt any faster than a corolla, and although they say a Celica GT has more power, it really doesnt. Only difference is it might breathe a bit better because of a different TB and Intake manifold. despite what you might think the engines and performance are the same.

i meant aftemarket support, as to my knowledge the celica has far more than the corolla despite having the same engine

thats wierd how the tc,xb dont know about xa, got so much aftermarket support so quick. I wanted a tc so bad a while ago, when i THOUGHT i could afford one. I still want one, but then again, i want to have enough money to eat!

^^ If a company wants a car to get aftermarket support, it will. Toyota has had massive advertising blitzes, everyone thinks this car is the next big thing, and want to have parts ready for it.

Same engine means same cams, (generally) same ECU and/or tuning, and the response to a mod will generally act the same. Stuff like CAI, exhaust, etc. is body-specific though.

Umm...the Celica is faster than the Corolla...and the Celica is more powerful. Stock dynos are generally showing a consistent 5-7 whp more in the GT than the Rolla. Stock 1/4 mile times show the Celica to be faster on average as well (and the difference is too large to be associated with weight). And if the engine can breathe better, then it will perform better (make more hp).

I would race any stock, auto Corolla and win every time, unless my engine blows up, I run out of gas, or get hit by a meteor. My friend's butt dyno tells me it's true (he's been in both cars), hopefully we can race sometime to prove it.

I have an auto GT (1ZZ)...which is why I said I could beat any stock auto Rolla. I probably should've worded my first post a little nicer, sorry about that.

    bad launch + tall gears = 17.06

With full interior I could've expected about 17.5. With even more weight reduction (I had rear seats and cushions in, there are some easily removable plastic panels, and I had a full tank of gas) I'd be in the high 16s, perhaps pushing 16.5 but that's probably a stretch.

A 5spd GT runs around mid/slightly higher than mid 15s stock with a good driver, higher 15s with an average driver. I've seen slips from 5spds that dip into lower 16s, but usually they run on 18s, don't take their subs out, and/or don't drive very well.

On a side note the fastest n/a auto GT I've seen is 16.2. I don't know how he did it on 18s with only I/E, from his description it sounds like he powerbraked pretty far (spinning tires).

that's because the xA , xB have been in japan for years and had already built an aftermarket base.

that's how i can get parts from companies like APR, Cusco, Blitz, etc.. my car is originally JDM. :D
