    Lighting...whatever do I do?

I'm looking at getting a handful of the #74 LED lights from SuperBrightLEDs to replace all of the lighting in the center console either to all white (to match the white lit gauge cluster in my 04 S) or all blue (to match my deck); but I had a few questions before I buy anything.

First, does anyone have any experience with doing this? How does it look? I did it at one point using 4 very bright 3mm blue LEDs of my own but it didn't look great and was spotty and all that. I'm assuming that these #74 things are made to put out light similarily to the way the stock bulbs do, is that right? Even in the buttons where the usable light is actually coming off the side of the bulb?

Second, I'm thinking that because of SuperBrightLED's $25 minimum on international orders I need to order more than the 7 #74s that I'd need to light up the centre console, and what I'm thinking is if I go blue I can replace the white gauge lighting with blue. Has anybody done this? How do I rip apart that part of the dash if I was going to do that? What bulbs are used in that part of the dash?

Third, if that sorta thing is a bit outside of the realm of possibility for someone as not-so-bright as I, what else should I spend that extra 7 bucks on? LOL.

Oh, and lastly; in doing my 4-LED homebrew lighting mod (that didn't work out so well) I managed to lose 2 bulbs and their holders; if I wanted to just mod holders to hold wide-angle LEDs that I already have in them where would I find such holders on their own? Or, if I wanted to go back to stock, where owuld I be able to get holders/bulbs/ugly green condoms? Keep in mind I'm in Canada so there's no pep boys or anythin like that, and I've seen nothing in Canadian tire.

    Thanks for much help.

you got your work cut out for ya!

i'd say if you need to meet min, buy some 3157 LED bulbs for your tail/brake lights.. that'll get you to your min..

the light output will be spotty..

you might end up having to use electrical tape for your bulb holders, or go to the toyota dealer. i'm sure they'll try to sell you a new corolla to go along with the bulbs, but try and get around it.. junkyard maybe too.

honestly, i sprayed my bulbs with brake caliper paint, and in 2 years experienced almost no fade.. cost =$0 (i already had the paint leftover)

    i'd say just paint em..

Does anybody have pictures of what those brake lights would look like on a 9th gen (03-05) corolla?

[edit] Actually, does anybody have pictures of doing anything similar to this in the 9th gen rollas?

As much as I like being the only one with something/doing something; blazing new trails when it comes to automotive stuff has never been my forte; you should see the lighting job that led to this, or my current amp/sub install....but anyways...

I'm not *terribly* worried about a spotty output because I can always get some sort of diffuser in there and add more lights; but I am worried about the buttons. The LEDs will be pointed downward; will they light up the buttons at all? or enough?

I want to convert my cluster lights to blue LEDs so the light output will be nice and bright, but I can't decide which bulbs would be best. I want to get the brightest ones I can while still being able to fit them in the cluster. Anyone have any experience with putting the #194 bulbs found on the page below into their cluster? Are the 5 LED Wedge Base Bulbs too big?

Also, what about the "Twist-Lock type" #73/74 blubs?

I can't say I know much about the 94 corollas; but if it's anything like the 04 and your'e looking to put stuff in stock locations, the 74 is the only one that'll fit. You could mod some bigger bulbs or something similar, but I would be unsure how to...
