    sunroof / moonroof wiring diagrams?

I just installed a Viper alarm in my 05 S and have it open/close the sunroof. However, the installer could not get it to close properly. He used a pulse time delay to power the sunroof motor to close for however long. However, sometimes it lasts longer and the sunroof goes past closed and opens tilting.

Does anyone have the wiring diagrams for the sunroof?

seeing as i don't ever use the tilt, does anyone know if i can physically disconnect the mechanism which opens in tilt?

The wiring of sunroofs can be a little problematic since the sunroof will close and open differently depending on weather, power load, etc.

It would be better to wire it it with some type of sensor to detect when it has fully closed so that it cuts the circuit once it reaches that point. I take your sunroof is an aftermarket? or is it stock? Another question, does your sunroof have a one touch close feature? I take it it does not since if it did the installer would have use that circuit to wire it. Anyway, it works on the same concept when using the alarm.

I thik it would be esier to wire a switch so that it knows when it is closed than disabling the tilt mechanism IMHO.

It is the factory sunroof, and it does not have a one-touch feature (i wish it did). I am sure that there is a factory switch in there because when one presses the close button, it stops when it closes, it does not continue into tilt mode.

I did some research on this topic and it appears that the toyota OEM circuitry is unique in that the sunroof limiter operates on a 5v signal that drops to ground when it detects that the sunroof is fully closed. There is a wire that feeds from this circuit which monitors its state.

Now most sunroof modules made out there rely on a spike to stop the circuit, and this is why they do not work for these type of sunroofs.

Some people have wired it in a weird but not elegant way, which is what I suggested before, by using a magnetic reed switch to break the circuit once the sunroof opens. There is one other way which uses a homemade circuit which taps into the sensor 5v cable. It detects when the signal goes to ground and opens a small relay. The main part of this circuit is a Darlington optoisolator. If you are really intertested in seeing how this works I can post up pics and a diagram from where I found it.

It seems like a lot of work to do, and the reed switch may be easier if not as elegant.

I heard that alldata has wiring diagrams for all cars, but you have to either pay a fee, or find someone with a subscription.

    Good luck,
