ill support ricers and ill support cars that arent considered ricers....havent you noticed that if its not an import from asia, its usually not a ricer....its just a POS.....if u drive a 1996 Honda Civic and you push that pedal to the floor just once, people will instantly come to the conclusion that your just a ricer.....same if i were driving a 1996 Toyota Supra with a fully supped up engine, and just because it has an exhaust that you cant do anything about because its a 1200hp car, its a ricer cuz u cant keep it quiet....if you drive a 1996 Ford Mustang and floor it, people think your cool as hell.....if you drive a 1966 Chevy Camaro, youre still cool as hell.....if you drive a 1990 BMW, people envy you cuz they want the right to say i own a BMW, n still they probably like ur car.....and if you drive a stock 1988 Ford Tempo, you should be shunned...and if you drive a stock 1995 Dodge Neon, people will still think its a piece....but your still not considered a ricer even tho u drive the largest POS of a Tempo or Neon??....what word can we use other than a POS since it cant be considered a ricer for the simple fact that it is an american car??...(alot of people will consider a Neon a ricer tho since they put so many import parts on it but thats my next point below)....is america like racist against imported vehicles from asia??....then theres americas predjudice towards import parts....if you put an import part on an import asian car, people will think its a ricer......if you take a ford mustang and do nothing to it, people think its kool as hell.....if you take that same ford mustang and put euros on it, no matter how cool they look, or if you put a windshield decal on it, or if you put a Type R emblem on it (which u should be slapped around for) ur a ricer....if you take a Corvette and leave it stock, your cool as hell.....if you take that same Corvette and put an aluminum wing on it, similar to the ones that the professional Corvette racers put on their cars, people will associate the aluminum with the asian market and dub that car stupid and progessively u becoming rice.....

ya kno, i just wanna kno when it will all stop....or at least when will it become fair so that we we have a word for an american car that, in our own opinions, is distasteful??

    RICE-ism

ok while we all hate rice,I for one hate the poeple that think anything but stock is rice as well.. NEway the point of this thread is, what about those cars who are built specifically for show? are these cars rice?? and what about the elusive JDM rice? those people that have lip kits, bronze wheels, jdm conversions and an all black paintjob but absolutely no engine work whatsoever. while it looks better than your average decal on wheels its basically the same thing. or how about the "ricer" with the ridicoulous bodykit, fart can, lambo doors, chameleon glow in the dark paint job, that has a ridicoulously fast car? what do we call them? the point is i think people are using the rice thing as too much of a general statement when i think it should be more of an individual thing...

i know the rice thing is nothing new but these are just my observations and thoughts.....feel free to post yours.

dude there are so many fuckin posts about rice.

you even said it "it should be more of an individual thing" which it is, and that's how people use it. perhaps some people might use the word rice as a blanket term, but that's their individual feeling about rice. basically your point is that if people feel that rice is anything tacky or even imported, thus using it as a general statement then they're wrong?

as for others' opinions about rice just sift through the two dozen "waht is rice" threads that are buried at the bottom of each forum - i'm sure everyone on this board has posted in at least one of them.

Hell yeah! I make >80k a year and my wife also works fulltime and I still drive a 2001 Corolla S. You want to know why? Because its the first car I ever purchased brand new and I was very proud of that. At the time I purchased it in 2001 I was making about 27k a year and needed something that was semi affordable that I could pay off in 3 years. But today I keep the car because I've put blood swet and tears in it and the car keeps going without any major problems and everything I didn't like about the car I have changed to suit me. CUSTOM BABY! Car's are just Car's 4 wheels with some metal connecting them. Its what you make the car that counts. I've seen some Honda Civics at hot import nights that I would take over a Dodge Viper and those cars started out at like 13k brand new grocery getters and someone looked passed that and took the car to its limits. Oh well I'm not going to rant and rant hehe :) The Corolla is also a challenge. Everybody out there with a civic has like ten trillion aftermarket parts for there cars so it you never see a stock honda civic because they are so easily pimped. However when you see a low riding corolla with a body kit and HID conversion with a pimp spoiler and awesome exhaust system you think "Woah, thats cool" because its totally different then what your used too. Anyhow my fingers hurt from typing this :) Peace out.

I'm my opinion.... Any mods that are made more for show and no go.... Is rice. And I'm not talking show cars, I'm talking buying a large exhaust tip that hides your stock tip. Or the BOV sounding-thing. Stickers of parts that aren't even in your car. Like the Corolla around town that has a 'Powered by Mugen" sticker on it. Or a mustang that has a 'Type R" sticker on it.

Rice doesn't exist in Japan, it's like calling something a hamburger here.

    To some extent...

You know how you can get sick of having Chinese 3 days in a row? Think about the way people in China feel. That sorta thing.

It's totally up to who you ask. Most people have their reasons. Muscle car guys think imports are dumb cause if you want a fast car you shoulda started with more displacement. My grandpa thinks it dumb cause if it isnt broke dont fix it. When I'm with my friends I often use "riced out" just as a term that means modified.

I wouldn't call it rice, I'll call it a really nice drifter. I think the term rice should just be referred to what Shinma Tsunami posted. I mean everbody has different taste about what their car's should look. I started my car as a showcar cause I had no reason to spend all my money on my automatic car with 200,000 miles on it. There's rarely any hardcore performance parts for the Corolla that make competitive with todays turbocharged civics, all motor integras and what not. Only until I found out about my new connections of getting a 20valve conversion and turbo, now I can spend all my focus on performance on my car. Remember guys, Rice is only food. Who gives a crap what others call your cars. Its how you look at your car not what other's think.

No. . . my "ugly" unpainted 240 isn't rice . . well atleast I don't think. . . Maybe it's because I'm running an sr20? . . . And what is rice anyway. . . Who the fuck invented it? I'm pretty sure some fool driving a mustang in some honkyville state came up with it. but anyway. . . Everyone has they're own personal opinion of what "rice" is. I don't use the word rice because too many people have a different meaning toward the word. ask someone that doesn't like imports, they'll say a certain car is rice just for it's looks. Either way, Everyone has there own opinion on what "rice" is But Let's just blame the fucking fast and the furious movie... Look back about 10 years ago. . . Not very many people fixed up imports. . . go to a drag strip and all you would find is muscle cars. . . oh well whatever. .

rice this, rice that, rice for dinner, rice all kinds of bullshit, you can ask anybody on this board, everyone will have a different opinion, i admit it, i jumped on the jdm bandwagon, i've always have, and anything that's overly excessive that doesn't come stock on a honda's exterior, i'm sorry, it's rice, that includes bodykits, spoilers, and even interior modifications, but that's just me, and some bodyelse might have a different opinon, if you were to call phozenstones car, i'm sorry, i dont like it..bomex kit and bright orange paintjob and altezzas..sorry not my cup of tea

i prefer wingless over any type or spoiler, i dont care if it's OEM or JDM or even ITR, i hate spoilers, and i would rather have a set of OEM type r gunmetal rims over some volk gram lights or super advans, it's less flashy but it's still something different..and somebody said they see tons of civics that have a bunch of different aftermarket parts and stuff, but how many of those civics do you see that have 20 lug nuts? those 4 extra lug nuts get a lot of respect from me in my books

and if you want, you guys can call me jdm ricer all day long, i dont really care what other people say about my car
