who has done a rear disc brake conversion?

I found a set for a complete rear disk conversion for a 93-97 and it comes with everything I need. I just want to know how hard is it to install and are there any problems with the conversion that I need to know about. Also when changing brake pads do I have to order it from japan or can I use one from another car.

If you do a rear brake conversion do you need a new proportioning valve for the break system to keep your rears from locking up?

yes, you would need a carrier bracket for the abs unit.

What if I don't have ABS :) I'm running an 01 corolla. Maybe ABS was an option but its not on my car. I open the hood and I don't have an ABS distribution block I just have a brake cylender with booster and a buncha brake line :)

that's where I found them. I have to shop first before I get them I and see what they think of it as a bolt on. They are from a ae101 or also known as the 2 door corolla levin.

then no, but you would need to order new rear brake lines (not recommended to be reused) from Toyota Japan and possibaly the ebrake cable.

On closer inspection I noticed they dont have rear control arms. They MIGHT be different, I think the set that guy from FIZZ brought over from the AE111 had them.

TRD japan brake lines and pads can be purchased through www.trdsales.com. I may be considering full AE101 levin 4wheel disc brakes on my car or somethin' else I suppose!

Guess I must be the only one on here with rear discs, eh? Brake hoses are available at your local auto parts store, as are most other parts, save for the brake discs, caliper bracket, and handbrake cables. Handbrake cables are a must, because even if they haven't been cut, they're probably at least partially seized, as mine were. I'm on my 3rd pair of brake calipers, as the first ones seized, second ones leaked... All in all, it's loads of fun!

I wish someone would gather all of this stuff into a kit. (hint, hint...) I don't know anything about brakes, so I'd end up ordering the wrong parts or leaving something out if it was all up to me.
