some of the guys on slashdot had some good ideas.. since it's available in clearcoat as well, could you not put a couple coats of it on, and when it gets scratched up or even dirty, just peel a layer off?

    peelable paintjob

This has been floating around techie news sites. It's paint that you can peel off, which means you could effectively change your paint as you see fit (though masking is another story). I can see how this could really be used for more bad than good (bank robbery, perhaps out-smarting the police to avoid a speeding ticket) Reminds me of the old cannonball run movie where the lamborghini is painted with a washable white color, goes through a car wash, and a red lamborghini pops out the other end.

Dude, I think that is so cool. You could paint your car a couple colors and play around to see how it looks before you completely commit :)

however, imagine how expensive that could be...i know peelable nailpolish used to be kindof pricey.

Ahhh screw it then :) I'll just paint my car with Krylon over and over until I find a color I like then sand the whole car down and paint it for real :) J/K

Thats a cool idea but it probably costs as much as a normal paint job.

they also have a paint that is a sprsy paint that will last about 2 years and will come off clean with a special solvent. it was featured in a popular science magazine a few months ago. i wish i remembered the name, something like magic paint or something. the military has been using it to change the color of their vehicals in the field easily

You know that seems a bit impractical for general use...
But it would be great for people who have chrome rims.
You wouldn't have to change wheels for winter, you could just use peelable silver paint! hm....
