Real HID bulbs last a long time but I dont know about the ones that come with this kit they don't look standard. Also beware that HID will get you pulled over most of the time if you dont have the lenses configured to put the light to the ground. HID unfocused is like projecting a movie theater projector though a prizem. It looks wierd and super bright and annoying. Bug if you already have projector lenes in your factory light housings then this would probably work fine. But I was going to do something like this to my 01 corolla but decided that when I do it I'm going to jack the BiXenon gear from an Audi and custom fiberglass them in.

How is this 8500k HID kit?

I found this kit on eBay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...mMakeTrack=true

    I was wondering...
-Does this kit have everything I actually need to get the whole system up and running?
-How long do the bulbs usually last?

I'm installing this on a 03 Corolla S w/ Angel Halo housing. Any suggestions/comments are appreciated, thanks!

I recommend against getting a plug and chug HID kit, they're illegal, and they're dangerous to oncoming traffic because the light is shot everywhere, not to mention the light output is pretty crappy.

If you've got factory projector lenses, and no HID's, it's still not a good idea to shove a "kit" in there because those are HALOGEN projector lenses, they're designed to only project the amount of lumens a halogen bulb produces on the ground correctly - anymore and you'll be blinding ppl/light output will be poorly projected.

If you want to get HID's, you should do it right - get HID Projector Lenses, and HID bulbs/ballasts and retrofit them, not the cheesy "kits" that allow you to plug right into factory, halogen reflectors. It'll cost a little more, but you'll get 10x better results from having a nice, sealed, projected beam rather than light being shotgunned everywhere.

And deadnick - i heard bixenons are too big for our factory housings. Let me know how that project turns out. I've got sylvania xenarc bulbs in mine w/sylvania/valeo/osram ballasts/lenses.

Hm...well, my housing does have projector lenses, but I don't know whether or not it can handle HIDs. Assuming it does, and the fact that I have nothing else, what would be a good recommendation for an 8500k complete kit?

Does anyone in the SoCal area have experience with this? I'd like to pay a visit and give you a job :)

Go to www.illusion-lighting.com or just make sure you install projectors with your system. retrofitted HID without a projector to focus the light is going to be a nightmare for every other driver you pass on the road. It'll probably get you into an accident from someone being blinded by your lights, so just make sure you do the whole HID conversion thing right. It's not gonig to be cheap if done the right way either.

Oh ok. I'm planning to buy some of the Depo JDM lights and then just send them to illuson lighting, but if you have someone to do the work though a hookup, obviously that would be cheaper.

I was thinking of this kit:

    http://www.xenondepot.com/product.php?product_id=26

The projector lens on my housing is DOT compliant, so it should work for HID (if I'm incorrect, correct me), plus I've seen others on this forum do the same thing and theirs looked fine.

I liked illusion-lighting and their whole do-everything-by-us thing, but damn is it expensive. I think I'd rather try and buy the kit and electricute myself, then take it to my friend's garage and finish it there :)

If it doesn't have HID's in it from the factory but it has projector lenses, they're Halogen Lenses, and they're only DOT certified for Halogen bulbs. The output is no good because you'll be putting way more light through those lenses than they were designed to project. This goes the other way too, halogen bulbs will look like crap in HID projectors.

Why don't you talk to Sean? (sean2sean) He hooked me up w/my HID's, and i've seen his work, great stuff, extremely professional.
