I think the damn auto shop's trying to rip me a new one...

I'm new to this xenon thing, so I thought I'd ask here before doing anything...

I asked the guy at the shop about installing some 8500k xenons on my new angel halo housing (they're so sweet) for a 03 corolla s, with a transformer. He claims that the transformer alone costs 400. Is he trying to bullshit me? And seriously, what does it take to get a complete job on the xenons, without possibility of fryin circuits, etc., parts-wise, and price-wise?

HID is expensive. To do a conversion it will cost around $500 minimum. My friend is doing it right now and just to buy the Ballasts, Bulbs and Lenses it's going to cost him $500 and thats for parts of a wrecked car.

$500!? How does that get calculated? I seen some ballasts w/ bulbs on ebay for $300...though I'm not sure of their quality.

I was talking about xenons. Is there a difference between xenon and hid?

www.illusion-lighting.com/ is one of the better places to get a HID conversion. HID with Xenon runs about $750, but the work is going to quality. If I ever do convert to Xenons I'd go through them.
