get the M3 mirrors if you dont mind it. it would be cheaper.

but it also gives you a bigger blind spot

i suggest you just buy a new OEM. it may cost u more to get those bmw type mirrors coz u need to buy 2. to give you u an idea, my sister's 1997 camry mirror got busted and she got an OEM one for around C$250 + taxes and that's already with discount. it's powered and heated mirror too. so most likely, you will be looking around that same price or a bit higher coz it's 04. shouldn't be more than C$300 though. once u buy one, it's easy to install - not hard at all. i did my sister's right side and then her left side got busted so i did that too! took me around 15-20mins. to replace.

    stupid, stupid, stupid...Mirrors question

I did something real stupid today...and I took my passenger side mirror off of my '04 Corolla S...

Basically, tired + opaque windows + garage = fucking up your car...

Anyways, does anybody here have any idea how much it'll cost to replace that mirror; or better yet if I'd be able to do it myself?

The entire mirror came clear off. The black surround *was* still there (albeit broken) until some fucker didn't clear the snow/ice off the top of his truck and instead let it fall off and smash into my car - knocking the black surround off as well...

So now I basically have the stock mirror location clear, though there's a large black piece of plastic that it appears the mirror connected to that is still there, as is about 8 inches of wiring for the power mirrors.

    Suggestions?

BTW, I'm in Canada; so if you're giving price quotes please mention what currency they're in so I can convert if needed

    Thanks much

a new mirror could be found at a local junkyard, an online store, ebay, or a slight possibility of a member on this board. the extra plastic that connected to your mirror probably will be able to be taken out by removing the bolts from the inside of the car the same way you would take the side mirror out (sorry if thats confusing). oh and did the wiring rip or is everything ok?

I think I understand what you mean, htough I'm gonna have to take a look at the side mirror DIY so I can figure out how that all works...

As far as wiring, right now it looks like the wires pulled right out of the terminals; as in it's the covered wire from the grommet out, and then the covering ends and it's 3 individual wires, all slightly stripped at the ends, which would make it quite easy to work with

I've got a quote from the dealership I bought my car from for 200-300 and installation is free with purchase of the part from them.
quite honestly I don't really like the M3 style mirrors for corollas (and fuckin everyone has the damn things...I bought a corolla because everyone *didn't* have one [at least, modders didn't...modders here all drive honda/acura] - I like being a bit different)

I was thinking about buying them, or just a single OEM mirror off of Ebay and doing the install myself, but without any space in my garage to do it I'm not standing out in the cold trying to figure out how the hell to do it for an hour or two. From what the DIY says I gotta pull the entire door panel off, and that's more of a summer job to me. Sorry to the bankbook, heh....

    Gotta pay for my stupidity.
