removing amber lens from headlight - help!

i was following the DIY for removing the amber lens from the headlight. i got as far as removing the small tab behind the chrome part but it doesn't look like the amber piece won't come loose so that i may be able to force it close to the hole to break it into pieces. i have a 2004 S but i don't think that makes a difference. has anyone had any problems doing this? i really like the clear headlights look so any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

btw, i did try searching on it, but if i missed this thread being posted please lead me to the right direction.

Just did it yesterday. The tab is inside a little hole to the edge of where the turn signal hole is. If you hold it up, you should see it shine through from there. It isn't the same signal hole where the bulb was. The hole (slot) is the perfect size for you to put a flathead straight to and push it. The thing basically snaps and that thing breaks off.

But the reflector will still be stuck there. You have to force it out a little bit. I just used my screwdriver and started digging it straight down and towards the inside. A few times of those and you should be good. There really isn't anything else you can do besides that from that position. Unless you wanna try something with a clothes hanger, but that'd get complicated. Just push firmly with the screwdriver and pull to the side. It'll come loose.

i did see that slot and it looks like the small tab did break off so i started to try to pushing the amber reflector with a screwdriver it still didn't move. i was thinking that the tab didn't break off comletely and that there was a bit in that slot.

thanks nrm. i'll have to check it out again some other time.

Well, the tab is pretty small, if you pushed it right through, then it probably broke off. There is a bit of force involved in getting it out, because it is wedged inbetween the outer clear headlight part and the black part behind it. Later on when you start shaking bits and pieces out, you'll notice some get stuck. Also... there are about two other clips on that thing, so you have to push it inwards. It WILL come out, you just need force.

And you're right, clear corner lights do look good.

The white bulbs were overboard for me though... I should have known better.
