Question on the Dual Halo Projector Headlights...

    Hey all,

I'm thinking of getting the Dual Halo Projector headlights for my 04 corolla (it looks like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&category=33710) ... I know alot of people have it on their corollas.

I'm a newbie when it comes to installing headlights and such. How exactly do the blue halo things work? Do they operate by themselves as soon as your car turns on like the Daytime RUnning lights? Also, do I need to get new bulbs or can I just use the stock ones I have? Would I need to remove them?

Is there a DIY guide to remove the stock headlights and install the new ones? I mean I can always have the shop do it for me, but I'd rather do it myself so I save $.

Let me know if I should know anything else... or where would a good place be to get these online or if the price listed on that ebay site is cheap.

    THanks!

    Ken

    Just use this guide

    [CorollaToys]

You can stop at the yellow reflector removal, you'll have your headlight out by then. Just keep track of bolts and stuff... I had one extra in the end and checked all obvious sockets... I hate it when that happens.

Either way, once you get the three headlight bolts off, including the hidden one behind the bumper, headlight removal is a little tricky. Mine didn't slide right out like it said, I had to do a little wiggling and bending of the bumper, just becareful about it and you'll be fine. It's easy, just takes a little time and you'll be done.

I have mine hooked up to the running lights. I spliced into the turn sig. Take the headlight out with the bulbs still in. The ones I got from ebay came with bulbs. Allso my headlight came with smaller light to the inside of the high beams.I made them part of my turn sig.

Yeah I think they all come like that, mayhem. As far as I can tell, they're all aftermarket headlights made from Taiwan. HB4 (9006) low-beam and HB3 high-beam. The projector lenses are very likely to support only halogen bulbs (thus exactly why they came with halogen bulbs).

As far as the headlights go, the halos turn on as your headlights turn on (basically a on-off switch thing). The halos are always on as long as you have your low beams active. The turn signal uses the stock bulbs you already have (the housing doesn't come with turn signals anyway), so there's really no work on that part.

It's better if you do it yourself and save the bucks (it'd take you two hours at most). But I happened to require a fix on my quarter panel, so I took it to the shop, and they did it for me.
