I'm keeping my Corolla -- this would be a car that I could take apart, work on, and not need it put back together by Monday morning. ;)

yo, cadetlee, that's really a good decision, imo... I was looking at a luscious red 92 MR2 Turbo with T-tops, but I just didn't have teh balls to junk the corolla. if you have to get a 91 or 92 as opposed to a 93-95 (yeah there are 95 MR2s in america) you should try to switch out the rear suspension with a 93 as well as nab that standard LSD that was introduced in the later years as well.

I can't seem to make up my mind...

...but I think I finally did.

I've been wanting to turbocharge my Corolla for a while, and I was planning on rebuilding my engine (or another) this year, and turbocharging the next; my total budget would end up around $6000.

Then..I happen to poke around on eBay..and saw MR2s again. They're beautiful, and can be made faster than my Corolla could ever be -- and for the cost of building my engine and turbocharging it, I could have an MR2 Turbo in good condition -- possibly with a little cash to spare.

I have a tendency to find good deals, so hopefully one will surface sometime this year..I'd love to pick one up over the summer. Hopefully a 93...but I'll probably end up with a 91 or 92. They aren't cheap on eBay or Autotrader, but hopefully I'll find one somewhere.

    So.. :)

Only 5k for a '94 Turbo? What condition is it in? If he still has it this summer, I may be interested....

oh shit, i've heard that because of some weird thing with the rear control arms and thus toe in, the car will just oversteer to the point where you cannot correct and crashing is imminent. sorry if this was misinformation, i've only driven the 91-92 a handful of times.

sorry to have come off as "bashing" your year's mr2. i know it's a babe and kicks a lot more ass than my car. good luck with your future purchase cadetlee

The 91 and 92 will oversteer alot more, its good and bad. I've been driving a 91 for 9yrs now and have driven a friends 93. I preffer the 91-92 better corner handling. They're like the old 911's they'll bite you.

Mr2's are very nice cars. I got to work on and drove both the '91 and '94 turbo mr2. I would perfer the 94 if you have the cash for it. It has better brakes/suspension, dual syncros, 9 studs on the manifold oppose to 6 on the '91 which cause warped manifold. The '94 tend to understeer instead of over-steer unlike the '91, but both are great cars no matter what. Wish I have the money to buy it from my friend, but 5k is just too much for me.
