Before signing anything have someone look over those contracts with you and be sure that you can meet any conditions that they are wanting.

For example if you are suppossed to attend 12 shows and you only go to 3 what happens...

^^ exactly. I heard one place (this was a few years back) will totally hook up your car and sponsor you under the condition you SIGNING over your pink slip to them. Make sure you read over everything really carefully. Like how much did you pay for the application and whatever? Also there will probably be a clause that they can end the contract at any time...be sure if you invest a certain amount of money to check to see if it's refundable or if you just lose everything.

    If all goes well congrats!!!!

just got sponsored by Sport Compact Pro

I got a call the other day from Mike at sport compact and he congradulated me on my $12,000 sponsor with them. I had applied for sponsorship with them a few weeks ago after i got my rims and tein springs on. I thought it sounded a bit iffy at first, but i just recieved my contracts and my distributor list in the mail. They will also give me $250 dollars for every minute of video footage i send in and they use in there up and coming DVD. I thought it was all to good to be true and still have my thoughts, does anyone have any experience with sport compact or sponsors that can give me a little advice. I would greatly appreciate it. thanks

Well to my knowledge, every person I know whom has been sponsored had already dropped tons of money in their cars. They weren't stock..... SO it reallly seems kind of fishy.

i dont trust it, it sounds so nice... i mean everybody would like a free $12,000 for anything they wanted on their car, but they need something in return....im thinkin dont trust it... its one of those too good to be true things... but if you do be careful and goodluck!

The name "Sport Compact Pro" sounds alot like the magazine "Sport Compact Car." I heard on the news today about how alot of charity scams will pick a name similar to a popular charity, like the United Way, etc. This could be a similar situation. Ask them for some more literature about the sponsorship and see what they send.

Also, definitely read over that contract very carefully.

I highly doubt its a *real* sponsorship if you only have rims and and springs... and you probably haven't competed in any shows either? I would steer clear from that (as nice as $12 000 would be to fix up a car)...

    Very True.

Just to give you an idea of what a sponsor car is.

My friends RSX Type S, with 10 grand dropped in it.

And he got sponsored GReddy. He still hasn't received his turbo kit. But it has to be professionally installed and he has to attend like 5 shows a season for a few years. And he has other rules, but i don't know what they are.

I'll explain it to ya... They said you are sponsored for $12,000 .. What this means is.. Say a set of springs is $300 retail... wholesale cost is $180... You pay $180 and they say 300-180 = 120 is deducted from your $12,000 sponsorship "fund" .. They wont buy anything for you.. you still pay for all of your parts.. you just get them for wholesale..

Why don't you go to some of the affiliates that are on the website and talk to them and see if they are legit. "Not everything is a scam...and just because a car doesn't have a big wing and stickers doesn't mean it can't get sponsored".

ask yourself how the business makes money. where does sport compact pro get their profits? if you can't figure this out, red flags should be going off in your head.
