Engine need help with tranny swap

    need help with tranny swap

    ok, im dead set on gettin a manual into my car, so i have a few questions. I want a 5 speed...but i called this place and they dont have one, but they do have a 6 speed from a GT-S.... i would do it but i dont know if itll bolt up to the 1ZZ. if anyone knows, tell me and ill make that swap happen :) (john you can be the first to drive it too :))

    Would might want to see if the gearing of the 6 speed would be beneficial or not...

    IIRC, you'll have to grind a part of the tranny casing away for it to fit, and you'll need new shifter cables. The gearing isn't much shorter, though..

    it can definitely be done - and will be much easier to do in a 03+ rolla like yours than pre-03 models... but im sure you will have to do a bit of extra modification to make the 6spd bolt up to the 1zz.

    might wanna check zzforums.net - they know their shit and would probably be able to tell you exactly what you need to do

    The gearing will be beneficial, as you will stay higher up in the RPMs and with VVT-i that's a bigger advantage than a conventional engine.

    I've heard yes and no on this at the Celica sites...I would say yes it can be done. Might take some modifications, but otherwise it should work. The shop should know...lol
