How to clean off old dirt?

My car wasn't washed much...so I have some spots like under the doors where I have hardened accumulation of dirt. And I also have certain "spots" on the hood and front bumper that won't scrub off with those washer mitts. So what do you guys do? how can I scrub off the dirt or whatever it is? Thanks

try some turtle-wax or a clay bar. the wax worked for me on other cars but ive never used the clay bar, but people who have used it say it works really well. ask vamp.

you can try a little rubbing compound if you really need it.

i would rather use wax, claybar, and other lighter duty products.

A clay bar? Will that be enough to scrub off the dirt? Isn't that more for getting rid of small stuff in the paint?
